Valor point conversion, arena season 10 delayed until patch 4.2

This, of course, makes sense. The new gear coming out of Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub won't be a completely new tier but will instead be item level 353, leaving the item level 359, 372, and 379 stuff coming out of the current raids as the supreme goal. With this in mind, bypassing raid content by making new valor point gear or a new level of arena gear would sort of throw game balance and content a bit out out of whack.
Patch 4.2 will supposedly be on the PTR soon after patch 4.1 launches, so hopefully everyone chomping at the bit for a new arena season or new stuff to save up valor points for won't have to wait too long.

The question I still have not seen answered:
When the VP to JP conversion takes place, will it still be subject to the 4k cap, turning any excess points into cash, or will it allow for them to be added as the pre-Cata soft cap worked?

I think no one's sure yet, which is why there isn't a definitive answer.

i seem to remember reading that you'll be able to go over, a la the soft cap... but of course you wont be able to earn more until you're under the 4k mark again

When they announced the new currency system about JP/valor honor/conquest they said that they will announce ahead of time that "Go spend we will release patch soon(tm)"
(which is first step on saying when the patch actually comes rather than "OH BTW TOMMOROW")
So basically:
*1-4 weeks before patch: "Go spend valor/jp to items you want, patch soon, we warned you"
*1-2 weeks after patch: You can have more than 4k but cant earn more before you spend it to under 4k
*2 weeks after the patch: All over 4k will be "lost" and converted to gold - dont ask conversion rates because I dont know.

Wait so I'm confused,
"conversion of existing valor points to justice points"
Does this mean spend my current VPs soon as they will change to JPs which I have more than enough of. Or does this mean save my JPs as I'll soon have a lot more to spend them on? I've been doing the daily for VPs but haven't spent the yet. If by waiting I can use my few VPs for even better gear and get access to current vp gear with JPs I'll do that

When patch 4.2 comes out, you'll "lose" all of your VP, to prevent people from getting a jump on the new tier of gear. I say "lose" but they'll just be converted to JP. Also with 4.2, all current VP gear will be available for purchase with JP, and new VP gear will be available.
So, if you're holding out on purchasing some new VP gear, you can buy it now for VP, or wait for 4.2 and buy it with JP. They haven't said if the cost will convert exactly (i.e. will rings that cost 1250 VP right now cost 1250 JP come 4.2). Also, you can assume existing JP gear will drop in price.

I guess to give you a straight answer: 4.2 is still a ways off, just buy your VP upgrades now and enjoy this content.

I think this is a good call for Blizzard to release a bit higher end heroic to help people gear into raids before the next patch, and it'll help with raid progression a little bit. The current difficutly for dungeons and raids, and the gearing curb, are probably just a little over the mark than what they had anticipated. This could help give people more time to get into raids and help buffer their gear a little bit more for raid success. Hopefully it helps get people get ready for Firelands faster as well.
