The Queue: What a wreck

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.
One of the things I love about WoW are all the odd places things seem to find themselves. Like this pirate ship.

Arrrr.
Gerjer asked:
Will Blizzard ever expand the number of characters you can have per-server?
This is one of the most requested additions to the game, and while there's always some rumbling that Blizzard will eventually do this, there's been no solid evidence. The 10-character-per-server cap doesn't affect many people, though, so it's probably just not very high on the list. (Even if it makes 500,000 people absolutely insane, that's less than 5% of the total playerbase.)
Hal asked:
What's the current accepted courtesy or protocol when rolling for Chaos Orbs? Just roll Need as long as you have gear you can craft (which you need)? Roll need because everyone else will anyhow?
I've only seen people roll need, and that's what I've done as well (but now watch me get yelled at in the comments). You can also only have an option to roll on them if you can use them, so it's no major harm, really.
Joseph asked:
Was recently playing through Northrend again, and it made me wonder (again) why my level 80 self was such an elitist jerk to my level 72 self in Wyrmrest? Better gear? It's the same thing he's wearing!
I'm pretty sure he has to be a jerk, or else the timeline would change, and then Arthas would win. Future self is doing past self a favor.
A few people have asked:
How can I ask a good question in The Queue?
Make the question about WoW, make it not about whatever we decide to talk about in the intro (Pokemon, Dr. Who, engagements, Rift, etc.), and make sure we haven't answered it in the past week. We probably also don't know or are not going to talk about what the next expansion is. Sorry.

Just a little but important correction, its Doctor Who, not and never Dr Who.
Candina@WH Mar 8th 2011 11:36AM
Can anyone help me explain the Doctor so that my wife 'gets' it?
C_Mot Mar 8th 2011 11:48AM
@Candina
The best thing you can do is have her watch it. It's one of those shows that far surpasses any description anyone can give, I believe.

This is a good place to start : http://www.flickr.com/photos/bobcanada/5355526489/sizes/o/in/photostream/

@candina. Doctor Who = Mr. Peabody + Spock, with a dash of Bond. Also new seasons are available on Netflix streaming if you really want to nerdify her.
Hillazon Mar 8th 2011 11:56AM
Just show her Craig Ferguson's (the Scottish Conan Guy) musical explanation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9P4SxtphJ4
It's about the triumph of intelligence & romance over brute force and cynicism.

Unless you're talking about this guy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Who_(Dalek_films)
hicks Mar 8th 2011 11:59AM
And also worth noting, the show is "Doctor Who", the character is "The Doctor".
ninjivitis Mar 8th 2011 1:32PM
Thank you! I hate it when people abbreviate Doctor.
Hollow Leviathan Mar 8th 2011 2:11PM
You say never Dr. Who, and someone else says that the character is The Doctor, but I just watched An Unearthly Child (The first episode ever) and the Hartnell is credited as playing "Dr. Who".
So there's that.
Karoc Mar 8th 2011 4:02PM
Actually if you're talking about the show its Doctor Who. Always. ALWAYS.
The character is referred to as The Doctor or Doctor Who/Dr.Who in the credits. Usually it depends on the actor's preference as to what they want it called there. Some of them like Hartnell had Dr. Who, others have The Doctor. But in character, in universe he's always "Just The Doctor."

@Candina
If you're trying to get your wife to want to watch it, try this, it's what made me go from "zero interest" to "needing this show in my life right now" YMMV:

@ blissfire Thank you for that video. I'm sure most of the other ladies on here would agree with me that THAT is the sexiest version of The Doctor. Hands down! X-p
I vote for him as the Queue posterboy with NERD APPEAL! ;)
Maribel Mar 8th 2011 9:00PM
@blissfire: Well that made me decide to renew the old Netflix subscription!
zyrcona Mar 9th 2011 7:16PM
Pedantic piece of information for anyone interested: if it is abbreviated in the cast list, it should correctly be abbreviated to 'Dr Who' with no full stop after Dr. The programme is made in the UK, and in British punctuation abbreviated words only take full stops if they don't end in the same letter they end with in their unabbreviated form. (Prof. Rev. but Sgt Mr Dr Mrs etc.) :-)

Any Shaman on the PTR have a chance to use the new Spirit Link Totem yet? I'm REALLY curious about our new cooldown, pros/cons etc.
Also, Mexican or Chinese food? Spicy or not is not a question.
MikeLive Mar 8th 2011 11:12AM
I think you might be mistaken - there is no new totem.
TinyLittleRobot Mar 8th 2011 11:17AM
Am I mistaken? This was on one of the recent PTR patch notes.
"Spirit Link Totem (new talent) reduces damage taken by all party and raid members within 10 yards by 10%. This lasts 6 seconds, and every second it is active the health of all affected players is redistributed among them, such that each player ends up with the same percentage of their maximum health. This counts as an Air totem and has a 3-minute cooldown."
Kilseker Mar 8th 2011 12:56PM
Unfortunately, the new spirit link totem hasn't been added to the PTR yet. I'm dying to try it out! (Yes it is real)
MikeLive Mar 8th 2011 2:11PM
It seems I am the mistaken one - my bad! Weird that I missed that one in the patch notes, I usually read them all pretty carefully - even for classes I don't play (and my main is a Shaman!)
