Dan O'Halloran first reviewed 9 Crimes over three years ago. The video remains beautiful and amazing even today; it shows how strong music, good composition, and a powerful narrative can stand up to the passage of time.
The lyrics set up a haunting counterpoint to the on-screen action, and the overall effect evokes a powerful and mournful love story. If you've never seen 9 Crimes, you're in for a treat. And as Allison Roberts says, it gets "bonus points for the use of Matteo Cocconcelli's acoustic cover of 9 Crimes over the credits." Interested in the wide world of machinima? Does it make me a sad individual that I actually teared up at the end? Short, but very amazing work. Her expression change after she unmasked him says it all for me.

The first time I heard this song was during the credits of a True Blood episode. I immediately googled the lyrics and then bought it off iTunes.
Fantastic tune.

Can anyone infer why they were fighting? I'm assuming it was a case of mistaken identity, but the narrative gap is bugging me.

He was a bad guy. Someone put out a bounty on him. She was one of many who pledged to kill him.

Although not actually stated anywhere, in my mind he ended up on Kael'thas's 'evil' side of the Blood Elf faction split.
But it could be anything really. Lovers on opposite sides.
