Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite ability in WoW?
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the AOL guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
One of the greatest strengths of World of Warcraft is its awesome sense of progression. Players level up and gain better and better gear as they progress through the game. Some people live for the raiding content, constantly striving for gear upgrades and stat optimizations. However, my favorite aspect of WoW's progression was and still is training new abilities. Leveling my warlock back in The Burning Crusade, I was amazed by every flashy ability I learned. Upon training Hellfire at level 30, I ran to the front gate of Orgrimmar and proceeded to ask a well geared level 70 character to duel. Amused, the 70 accepted and prepared to watch my futile efforts. I immediately popped Hellfire and died within a few seconds, all while laughing maniacally.
"Wow, you suck," said the 70 and rode away on his epic mount.
My lack of skill aside, the fun I had discovering these new abilities is unsurpassed by any facet of the game. Be it the terrifying Thunderstorm, the dumbfounding Disengage, or the hair-raising Heroic Leap, there are many cool abilities out there. And while some of them may have little to no practical application, every time I use one of them, I always think "Man, that's cool!"
So what's your "Man, that's cool!" ability? Did you discover it leveling your first character, or did you see another character use one of those nifty abilities and become inspired to level that class?

On my Balance Druid, the only bit of comedy I get in PvP these days is Typhoon. That, and my Mushrooms in AoE.

mushrooms for LoS pulling on my bear :)
impact on my mage....
or maybe cauterize (when it works)

shadowform, and yes thats why i suffered leveling a priest for 40 levels before the new talent tree came but the first time using it was so worth it

this. a priest was my first toon, and i was originally going to go holy at level cap (60, back then) but was leveling shadow. once i got shadowform, there was no going back. i'm still specced shadow today :)

Shadowform + Levitate + Dark Archangel = Awesome

You read my mind. Shadowform is still my favorite ability in the entire game, closely followed by Dark Archangel. I was so excited when I first got Shadowform. Every level before it was a pain (this was back in vanilla) but it was so worth it!

Also, I will never forgive Blizzard for changing the sound when you go into Shadowform!

Don't forget Shadowy Apparition. While in Shadow Form (of course) with Dark Archangel popped, there's nothing quite like having 3 or 4 Shadowy versions of yourself blithely strolling toward your target! CREEEEPY!!!
I love Levitate (and Slow Fall, for that matter), but I prefer to hop around on my Shadow Priest, letting the DoTs tick and the Apparitions proc until I can SLAM my opponent with a Word of Death -- or two -- which looks like I just served up a shadowy heart attack -- awesome sound effect there too).
Overall, I play many classes, but I think Shadow Priest is the most awesome (not in dps necessarily, but the most visually stunning and plain coolest).

We priests do get a lot of fun stuff.
Shadowform.
Mind Control.
and now Leap of Faith is good for lots of laughs in raids.

Kidding, I enjoy Conjuring Food with my Mage. There is something enjoyable about being able to create food and the ability to share.

Tough call there are so many. I would say mage portal. My mage is one of my alts but the ability to port a group of people to one of the major towns is pretty cool. I would say my next fav is Explosive Shot. Avengers Shield is pretty slick too :)

One of the amusing bits I remember was from Everquest, where the epic pants had a "summon food" power, and the boots a "summon water" ability.
Eww...
Saz Mar 9th 2011 8:06AM
Windfury.
Saz Mar 9th 2011 8:55AM
...and pounce. Pounce is my next favorite thing after the tornadoes of doom. Both abilities make me extremely giddy.

Love my Spirit Wolves, but liked them much better when they were 45 seconds and I could get my sprint in twice :)
Saz Mar 10th 2011 1:35AM
Don't get me wrong, I love my Spirit Wolves to death and I was extremely excited to be able to summon them once they were implemented, but Windfury somehow still takes the cake for me. The things my wolves and I have been through though. It's a shame that they don't last longer, that extra Spirit Walk was quite handy!

Death Grip. While warriors can be bothered jumping and running all over the place, Death Knights are just like ''meh...'' and pull crap towards them xD
Helston Mar 9th 2011 8:49AM
I've had Spell Reflection reflect Death Grip. It was like the DK charged me, but without me being stunned, him getting resources, or him choosing to go where he wanted to. THAT was fun.
