Patch 4.1 PTR: Burning Crusade dungeon maps

Maps for all of The Burning Crusade dungeons and raids are now available on the PTR, from the lowly Hellfire Ramparts to the mighty Sunwell Plateau. I must say, looking at the maps is pretty fascinating to me. I spent countless hours in all of those dungeons for two years, and I knew how to get through all of them effortlessly via landmarks and simply memorizing the flow. I never had an image in my head of what the overall picture looked like, and now I do -- years later!
In addition to The Burning Crusade maps, there are also maps for the updated Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub, as well as an updated map for Baradin Hold indicating the addition of the second boss. Do note, however, that we probably will not be getting that boss in patch 4.1, since the raid content was pushed back to patch 4.2.
Head over to Wowhead to see the full spread of dungeon and raid maps.
WoW Patch 4.1 is on the PTR and WoW Insider has all the latest news for you. From previews of the revamped Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub to new Valor point mechanics to the new Archaeology items.

Finally :-)

Yay, that makes the BC areas feel a little less broken. Now, add some reputation tabards for the dungeon factions and we're golden! I love the graphical overhauls (like the new water rendering and the model updates with cata), places like Terokkar look amazing!
The only thing one could ask for is the removal of the Umbrafen Eel Filets...

Technically the reputation tabards are already in the TBC content, but they require EXALTED reputation to attain. Which kind of defeats the purpose of getting them in the first place.
Solution: Reduce the requirement to FRIENDLY, and make it possible to "Champion the cause of .... faction" just like the Home cities (vanilla dungeons) and WotLK/Cata dungeons.

@Darkthunder
The BC tabards were your reward for getting to exalted, hence there is no purpose being defeated. You automatically get reputation based on what BC instance you're running.

It isn't likely to change any time soon, since Burning Crusade instances are hardcoded to give rep to certain factions. Northrend instances were designed to give rep to a default one if no tabard were worn, but Burning Crusade instances gave it to specific ones. This won't allow the tabards to work. Blizzard already said they have problems changing them right now. So it will probably be another content patch before that gets changed.

Sorry to disagree, but for myself I really hope they will keep the exalted tabards and the couple dungeons for rep thing.
Why? Having thrallmar, sha'tar etc tabard should "mean something".
Also iirc BC tabards are last of the old type of "exalted to get".
If every tabard would be given by mere friendly stuff like 30 tabards achi (that comes in 4.1) doesnt seem to mean anything at all, just get 30 reps to friendly and get some honor for pvp tabards (not AB rep tho)..thats couple quests for every faction really while levelling (it should be sort of same way as 40 exalted IMO but less still slightly grindy).
I know it can be pain in the ass to get rep for those BC factions but what else would you grind them for if not tabards?
Surely you are not using epics they give out, since you are going to northend. You wont be using those head/enchant resistance enchants. Nor the pvp set of blues - most likely.
Therefore its tabards that, atleast me, will go for when I did BC to exalted couple months back so I can use different colors that fits the gear I use.

I love the maps. They're beautifully made (especially if you look closely) and also made in a way that makes dungeons with many levels still seem manageable.

Woot! Three years too late.

As me and the wife were doing these old raids from there how lost I was when it has been a long time stepping into them. How nice to hear that we will finally get some maps to these dungeons.

Steamvault looks like an aborted fetus.
Slave Pens looks like a messed up uterus
Saeadame Mar 9th 2011 9:26PM
I thought Slave Pens looked more like someone doing /flex.

Auchenai Crypts looks like a rectangle with intricate contours on the exterior surface.

Am I a bad person for getting sex-ed flashbacks from The Eye's map? :(

This, honestly, is far too late. The content is ridiculously old at this point--if there is anyone at this point in the game who is new to the game and just hitting Outlands and does not know where they are going will find that nearly every group member they get in the Dungeon Finder with WILL know their way around.
That said, most BC dungeons are fairly linear, with any optional paths ending in dead-ends, so it is really hard to get yourself lost. Besides, if one needs to leave a dungeon now-a-days, they simply have to hit the 'teleport out of dungeon' function to leave the dungeon, as opposed to traversing the area backwards to get their way out.
The maps are great and all, I just feel the man-power could have best been used elsewhere.
Riari Mar 9th 2011 8:55PM
Unless you walked in there to farm rep. Not everyone goes in with the dungeon finder.
I started in Wrath. I didn't run the BC dungeons more than once or so and well after I out leveled them. Farming for Mojo, I had to go to Wowhead to even get a map of ZA. So I'm glad these are being put in.

Considering dungeon maps weren't even added, at all, until WotLK, it's a fairly moot point.
Did you argue against the implementation of 1-60 dungeon maps?
Drakkenfyre Mar 10th 2011 12:22AM
Do you know how many people in the random dungeon finder I have to direct in old instances? Almost every single person I meet I have to direct them in WC, even people fully decked out in Heirloom gear, I still have to show them the way around there. Just because the content is old doesn't mean everyone memorized the map.

Spoon-fed, sissfied expansion snowflakes.
Saeadame Mar 9th 2011 9:25PM
Dude, snowflakes are mean. They feel like little needles on your skin when you're walking around outside and it's snowing. Plus, they fall together and make snow, the bane of my existence.
So if you're trying to say that snowflakes are "sissy" I would pick a different word.

Games aren't supposed to be convenient! They're supposed to give you a sense of achievement to make up for the fact that you don't take pride in any of the things you accomplish in your real life! They should all be hard, boring slogs that allow you to lord your mastery of a video game over people who only have 10 spare video game hours each week because they have families and demanding jobs!
