Breakfast Topic: How hard are you working on guild achievements?

The guild leveling system is both interesting and annoying at times. There are some fun and interesting guild perks, as well as some obscure ones. Whether fiercely gathering, fishing, cooking and crafting in an attempt to reach the guild totals, or running around killing every critter in sight, there is no shortage of work to be done to accomplish all the guild achievements and access all the guild perks. Some people dive headlong into them, and others just take care of their own toons -- and whatever comes is just a bonus.
The idea of having every race/class combo at 85 and at least honored with the guild to get an extra bank tab is frustrating. Seriously, how many dwarf mages have you seen running around? On top of that, the caps for guild rep each week leaving you just a few points shy of that next rep level can be disheartening. I have leveled a human hunter to 85 and am currently working on a dwarf rogue and gnome priest. Other guildies race-changed to worgen or the new race/class options, and we are down to being only a few short.
I have taken my main out and killed hundreds of critters, fished in endless numbers of pools, and between my alts, I skin, herb, and mine. My guild as a whole took the fishing to get the fish feast recipe as a major endeavor, as well as making flasks for the cauldron recipes, having everyone get their flasks made by elixir-specced guild members. My guild certainly teams up to push achievements hard.
So how hard are you working toward the guild achievements? Which ones are you focusing on the most? Is your guild teaming up to push out the achievements? Or are you busy being a lone ranger?

I'm mostly trying to work on fishing from pools, since not many other folks in the guild are interested. Can't blame 'em; I find fishing to be absolutely mind-numbing. Hopefully we'll be done soon.
Also doing waaaaaay more dailies than I typically care to, in an effort to get a couple of fresh 85s to Honored so they can count towards the "Classy" achievements. I'd be doing more guild runs, but I usually only get to play in the middle of the night when nobody else in the guild is on.
I'll be hammering at that famed rat'n'spider cave in Eastern Plaguelands once I have more time, theoretically, though I have a feeling that the guild will finish up the critter achievement before I get done with this &@$%ing fishing one........ ah well.

About the critter achievement - gather up a few guildmates, and head off to the Deeprun Tram. Each critter a guild member kills will count as a kill by every other guild member in the vicinity as well, unless, of course, this has been changed, but I don't think it has.
My guild was having a hard time killing 50,000... and then six of us went to the Tram. Within half an hour to forty minutes of rat killing, we went from 25,000 critters killed to the top 100,000 needed for the second achievement. And after that, we decided to lay waste to Ironforge for the City Attacker (or whatever it's called, I forget) achievement, since the same "each kill counts as a kill by everyone" thing applied there too.
Have fun!

Actually, that doesn't work anymore. I had my guild raid stop by the icebergs off the coast of Borean Tundra when we were traveling between EoE and OS for guild raid achievement runs. The penguins only counted once each, not x10 like we expected. My guess is that Blizz stealth nerfed it.

Unfortunately that all guild member getting credit for critters was nerfed in the last patch. We only did a couple of runs in EPL before that bonus ran out. We did however manage to get to 50k critters in our 5 person guild by using Stormchops in the Deeprun Tram. Use a chop, AFK out for 1/2 hour then rinse and repeat. Gets you about 600-700 critters per hour.

:O
Damn.
Well, what a waste of a previous comment. :D

The multiple credits per critter kill disappeared in 4.0.6. They took the "Squad" out of "Critter Kill Squad".

We've been working at them pretty decently - as a maxed out 1000 member guild some of the volume ones (recently got 1,000,000 PvP kills) come easier than others. We are still a few short on the races one too - dwarf mage, worgen warlock and a few others are holding us back, but usually just because people have lvl85 toons and haven't hit the needed guild rep yet.
The 23-25 level rush (no exp cap) will be interesting as we will be trying for realm first.
BTW, we get our heirloom helms tomorrow :)

Say whaaaaa? No xp cap??

I've found that bartering with the opposite faction for the rarer combos on your realm's official forums has actually worked out rather well.
Need that Dwarf Mage that absolutely doesn't exist? Maybe that toon is hiding out in a guild that ONLY needs a Tauren Priest or Troll Warlock for their own achievement, maybe your guild just happens to have one of those combos, and an amicable deal can be struck! ^_^

Blah, ignore me... for some reason I read your post as needing race/class combos for the "____ Slayer" achievements, but on a second reading it's obvious you were talking about "Stay Classy" instead... my apologies. ^^;;

Whoo helms tomorrow indeed!
We just had a guildie blow 45kg on mats for flasks and now have the big cauldron.
We're still 3.5k fish away from the good feast, but we had someone xfer a few weeks back with it so the desire just isn't there.

My guild works pretty hard at em, we sure do love our nerd points :)
Except the BC dungeons and old shool raids. I cant seem to get a group to steamroll those with me!

My guild coordinated some achievements, but relatively few since I'm in a small guild.
Basically we try to get guild run achievements whenever possible, and after we all got our mains to 85 we coordinated which alts to level so we could get the achievements where we have at least one of each class at 85 and at least one of each profession at 525.

We're working on the fishing from pools achievement, but now that we've got the cauldron, we're ignoring the second level of it and getting the mats for our cauldrons from cheap auctions on the AH. Interestingly:
-Guilds that spam out flasks for the cauldron achievement will sell them for way under cost, even including the 20% from flask mastery
-The second level of cauldrons actually cost more raw flasks per dose, so can be safely ignored.

i care when it helps me out, my points are more important then the guild.
13k and rising baby
Noyou Mar 10th 2011 8:25AM
I bet your guild loves you.

I think it's also a bit presumtuous to define someone as being a worthwhile guildie just because of their achievement philosophy. We all played this game with much enjoyment long before there were 1- achievements at all, and 2- guild achievements.
I have little interest in participating in areas of the game I consider un-fun. My guild wouldn't expect me to grind Arenas, which I sorta detest, if it were a requirement for some g-achieve. If people wanted to do that... they can have at it. I would imagine achievwhore's guild shares his philosophy, so it works for them.

As a whole my guild is pretty much just enjoying the perks as they come, we only truly tried for the critter kills, and right now we're trying to emphasize more on the fishing, but it's a pretty laid back approach.

My guild just got our [that's a lot of bait] two nights ago, it took two dedicated nights of fishing blood pools in borean tundra + plus everyones fishing on their own since launch. It was a pretty big deal to have the feasts finally. Other than that, meh. Maybe we'll work on the cauldron achievement someday but right now it is cheaper to buy flasks than craft them. Due in large part I suppose to the cauldron achievement.

I absolutely love the guild achievements. We've had some great moments in the final 'rush' to finish up an achievement: for example, when we noticed we were close to getting the fishing achievement to unlock the feast, everyone rushed to the nearest body of water and started frantically searching for pools to finish it up. We had a raid going and were all on ventrilo, so it was a lot of fun to finish up that achievement.
Generally that's our philosophy regarding guild achievements: we'll work towards them at an individual pace, but when we notice we're close to obtaining an achievement the guild will work together to finish it off. Lots of fun. :D
