Matt is a fine doctor, and Karen is very much capable of acting. It's the writing that disappointed me during the last series. When Moffat took over, I was expecting the best series we had ever had. What we got was the worst. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes because - as we all know - he has the capacity for amazing things (Blink, The Empty Child, etc).

#11 never really had a personality, except in that one Sarah Jane Adventures episode. Everyone other than Smith is awful in it, so I don't recommend unless you want to see how he can own the character. In that one SJA episode, he had more character than he did for the entire 5th series.
