While Chromie's dragon name has a male ending, we have yet to have any confirmation.

Its kind of like judging Theralion. His voice acting really makes it SEEM he is gay, but we don't know know for sure. Chromie SEEMS like a cross-gender dragon, but we don't know for sure.
