There is no longer any real justification for a hybrid tax IMO.
Changing from one role to another during a fight should be rare, notwithstanding the occasional "oooops"
With everyone having access to dual spec for a nominal cost in gold, everyone can change from one role to another between fights.
So in reality - EVERYONE is now a hybrid to some extent, it's just that some classes are better at it than others and can do all three roles instead of two.
And after years of playing WoW and having encountered many many players ... I've met very few who try to be able to play all three roles on one toon.
Which pretty much illustrates why the hybrid tax is a leftover from the days when we only had one spec. While it made sense then ... now it's legacy junk and should be ditched.

How is everyone a hybrid class? I still have to find a role other than dps for my mage and my hunter ;-)
