Blizzard COO: We hope Titan will still be growing in 20 years "I believe [it's] the most ambitious thing we've ever attempted," Sams said. "And I feel like we have set our company up to succeed on that. We have some of our most talented and most experienced developers on that team. Many of the people that built World of Warcraft are full time on that other team." |

Player-run event in RIFT kicks off an eight-month war One of the core conflicts underpinning RIFT is the righteous and absolute morality of the Guardians versus the technology and self-determinism of the Defiants. You might not feel that distinction in the most of PvE gameplay, but a player-run public event is hoping to change that. |

If I had a dollar for every bitter WOW-hater who comments about how much WOW sucks on every single Massively post, I'd be as rich as Morhaime.

(Spoilers)
That pic really reminds me of the Chantry in DA2.

Who cares if swtor plays like wow does, I want some thing freash, I've been playing the same thing for 5 years and I want something more, and SWTOR has story line, which is the one thing I look for in a game before gameplay.

That's a very ambitious statement by Sams there. WoW became wildly popular because it was a perfect storm in the industry - it had Blizzard's level of polish, was accessible, and it had a solid IP behind it. Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 all contributed to the immediate success of WoW.
Titan is new IP, and it's being introduced into a muddied MMO market. I think it will be awesome, but to say you'll get two decades out of it is big talk. WoW is arguably flagging 6 years after release.
Discolando Mar 15th 2011 3:03PM
How do you define flagging? The player base and revenues have grown steadily since the original release.

Now, I'm just A Guy On The Internet, so take this with as large a grain of salt as you'd like, but I heard from a reasonably credible source that it's going to be Shadowrun, which is not new IP.
In the interest of not wanting anyone to get into seriously huge trouble if that source was telling me the truth, I can't really say why I found the news credible, or even who the source was.
But if I'm right, you all owe me a quarter.

I've heard the Shadowrun rumour too, can't remember where, but it's been discussed openly in the past. MMO-Champion/The Instance/somewhere like that.
I think we have to take Blizzard at face value when they say "brand new IP" and just assume it's going to be cyberpunk-influenced. I also have vague recollections of MMO-Champ talking about ActiBlizz taking over the developer of a cyberpunk MMO a few years ago and quietly shutting it down - making sure there's no competition for Titan?
I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Blizzcon 2012 sounds like a good time to reveal it.

Ahhh... ok. That explains a lot of things. I see, now. Hm. Interesting.

"Many of the people that built World of Warcraft are full time on that other team."
Exactly. When reading that quote I couldn't help adding "and it shows"

Blizzard has confirmed they have been moving the most experienced developers and designers from WOW to Titan for years now. They are also trying to convince people it won't have negative effect on WOW but most people don't buy that.
You can see the most up to date Titan info at http://www.titanwatch.net

i don't get why people buy ISK illgally when there is a legal way...
anyway i'm off the new eden drug for quite some time now but i still love to read eve related news as eve is the sandbox pioneer and shows what is possible in a world with almost no rules!
