The Classifieds: Calling all spoiler-free raiders

15 Minutes of Fame focused last week on a guild that raids without knowing strats beforehand. Since then, The Classifieds has received several emails from players who want to raid with other folks who are interested in that style of play. If you're looking for players who want to tackle content fresh and "blind," make sure to let us know. There are players specifically interested in that; let's get this happening!
Poor Impulse Control has already said it might be looking for folks and are open to hearing from folks. Be sure to check them out.
Random Acts of Uberness
It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Share your Random Acts of Uberness with theclassifieds@wowinsider.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup.

Meet-up promotion The guild Reforged used iMovies to create this promotional video for their Vegas meetup.
Recruitment video Reawaken built this video in order to provide morale and excitement about their guild. It's mostly a morale video, but it's a lot of fun to watch.
RP workshop Pox is holding another roleplay workshop this weekend; this time, they're focusing on some of the OOC communication concerns. Make sure you check it out on their website!

A few good raiders Ambition is a 10-man raiding guild looking for more. "We're a small 10m raiding guild 6/12 filling out our raiding roster. We raid last at nights twice a week, Thursday 10:30PM EST-1:30AM EST and Friday 10:30 PM EST-3:30AM EST. We're based on personal excellence and a belief that compromising the quality of people you're around is thoroughly unncessary for raid progression. Currently heavily desiring a destro lock or shadow priest!" Visit them at ambitionrh.wowstead.com.

Yay! You guys posted my Ambition classified.
Rather embarassed tho as I seem to have put up a spelling error. Turns out "last" should be "late" XD
We're up to 8/12 going 9-10/12 this coming week. :D
Thanks again!

Reawaken is also posted here with our video! It was more of a morale boost since so many people had real life things come up at the last second. I wanted to show our raiders that we are still going no matter what :D
We're also recruiting! (/shameless plug)
Shadowpriest
Resto druid
Prot Paladin
Blood Death Knight
(/end shameless plug)

Did... did someone type this up (the part after the intro) in Word (or similar) and then copypasta it into the article?
Also, whatever software was used thought <reforged> was a tag and made a close tag and all that jazz. That's the guild with the Meet-up Promotion.

Is it me... Or are there less and less random acts of uberness popping up...?
Is the community getting that bad?

Raid Leader/Guild Leader of Poor Impulse Control here. We are currently NOT recruiting, contrary to the article. We have a ferociously high attendance rate for both mains and subs - any position I would be able to offer would be an empty promise. I'm always willing to talk to people in game, and I'm glad to hear about others taking an interest in spoiler-free raiding (as we call it).
For those interested, I'll add some free advice: spoiler-free raiding is costly. Downing bosses is the shibboleth of getting a raid group off the ground - and going in without reading up, without strats beyond what your wits can find you, will result in you blowing a few weeks on something stupid. You - and your fellow raiders - will doubt your strats, you can spend a long time shuffling and re-shuffling things around and get nowhere.
When you DO down a boss, though, it's a different feeling. Things come together wonderfully, you don't just feel like you're filling out a checklist.
As another warning: even success is not enough. You will have a hard fight, everyone will be tired, and then someone will pipe up with some advice that is very different from what you have been doing but is so on-the-nose that you will think..."did he read up on the fight?"
It can be another source of drama and unprovable accusations and denials.
It works for us. It defines us. It makes the experience we play for - but it isn't for everyone.
Good luck!

Ambassadors of Truth, one of the oldest guilds on Dragonblight-EU has a long proud history of raiding casually (3 weeks nights) without spoilers, getting as far as Naxx40 during vanilla, Felmyst in Sunwell during TBC and downing the Lich King during WotLK. During Cataclysm we've focussed on 10man raiding with the occasional sojourn into 25man raiding.
We believe that raiding spoiler-free makes us a unique proposition in the current spoiler and guide-laden world and there really is no substitute for actually knowing what to do during a fight and why to do it, rather than blindly following a checklist! The epic feeling of achievement when you down a boss using your strategy is something else altogether!
Anyways, we're always on the lookout for new good recruits so have a look at our website (www.aotguild.eu) and drop us a note!

HMS Dawntreader, Silvermoon-A. We're a casual mostly no-strat guild. We had our first 10man guild run just this past week: Molten Core :D
Seriously though, we prefer experiencing content like a book - no spoilers. We even had someone leave the guild because we refused to let them tell us how an encounter worked before we'd tried it. Half the fun is seeing if we can sort it out ourselves.. but being casual, after a couple wipes we'll check a strat guide. We're more about the attempt than the success.
So, if you're looking for an upcoming Alliance guild that's more about the journey than the destination, try a tour of duty aboard the HMS Dawntreader.

When's a good time to contact you? I've sent you an ingame mail with my email. You're the most promising post regarding blind raiding I've seen. I've been looking to get back into it for sometime!
Grendalsh Mar 18th 2011 3:22PM
@Dave
Friday and Sunday evenings are our regular guild nights. Look for any officer in the guild. Otherwise I'm on Yahoo IM with the same handle.
Fair warning - as a guild, we're just getting into raiding. Lots of dungeoneering, but we've just finally gotten 10 chars over 60 to actually do guild raiding. We are looking to working thru ALL the raids now guild acheivements, and we've just started with the old Azeroth raids...
