Southshore is a music video by PallyPowerXIX. PallyPower is a relatively new machinima creator, just now learning the ins and outs of creating WoW videos.
The video has rough spots, but I found myself absolutely loving this movie. The music selection is just astounding; I've already jumped and bought the music for my collection. The story told in the animation matches the haunting music very well.
Story-based machinima buffs will find the use of a strong narrative refreshing in what is still essentially a music video. The animation isn't fancy, sure, but it supports both the music and the story.
My hat's off to PallyPower for a great job on a first machinima; I hope you keep going. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
I thought the scarlet crusade got entirely wiped out in Northrend, by the Lich King and the Knights of the Ebon Blade. I don't understand how the main character could be a crusader.
The video was good, and the soundtrack fit... but making it a crusader just feels off to me.
That would be the Scarlet Onslaught that got savaged there. No, it's not entirely the same thing (a bit like the Cenarion Circle, and the Cenarion Expedition. They are the same, but not the same), there ~are~ some Crusaders, still, in Scarlet Monastery. The leftover Scarlets in Lordaeron also got quite roughed up, being turned into what they were fighting against, but there are still some human Scarlets - and it's not because the story did not get updated. If you haven't done so since Cata, i'd suggest you redo the Scarlet Monastery. Things changed. They are still around, though things are not going well for them.
'Cept in the scarlet monastery quests you help wipe out every last one of them. So there's really none left at all. Old useless order, and hopefully the first thing in wow to just stay dead, cause NOTHING else does. "Omg we thought was dead, but its alive and stronger now!"
Should make a drinking game out of it. "Enemy you are pretty sure you, or a character in a book killed comes back" take a drink. "Enemy is now more powerful" Take a drink. "Enemy does not remember you killing them, or worse, credits some other guy for it cause he did it in a comic" Drink self into stupor. "Lich king inevitably returns in 5th expansion" Kill self.
@ Aygen: Some people, when they retire, move down to Florida to golf. Ritchie Blackmoore has this band, instead.
I saw an interview with him a few years ago. The singer in this group is his wife, and the other musicians in it are his friends. He positioned this group as a kind of fun thing for him and his wife.
But yeah... 200 Watt Marshalls and Jon Lord are a 180 from this.
Seriously. I have the deeds to Brill, Tarren Mill, Southshore, AND Caer Darrow, all officially notaraized and signed with my name, quite legitimate and certainly not taken from any unwary Scourge.
I've also got the deed to the Thandol Span. Granted that's a fixer-upper but I figure as long as the northbound lane is in working oder then I've fulfilled my duties of ownership and can rightfully charge toll.
Now go tell that freeloader Sylvanas she owes me maintenance costs from that "burst septic tank" in Southshore.
It's ingame music. You can hear it in Scarlet Monastery near one of the last bosses but I don't remember which. And It's in the room opposite to natrezym boss in the first part of Stratholme where you can find a reputation questloot book and a Forsaken miniboss.
Hi everyone, it's me :) Thank you for the kind words; it was scary, putting this up for all to see. Glad it isn't being brutally savaged!
Here are a couple of notes:
My hearthstone was set to Southshore from 2005 to Dec 7 2010 when it was forcibly reset. Damn you, Blizzard.
I really *was* chased into town by the wildlife, only to find Shadowy Assassins rampaging. It was very difficult getting the bear to chase a level 80.
I am an unabashed fan of those crazy bastard Crusaders, so I thought I'd give them a little love (literally and figuratively.)
The song over "Scarlet Kris Productions" is the WoW music "Battle 04." Seems like whenever you hear it there's gonna be someone in red standing around, so I used a snippet.
Relly well done hon! They both survived to fight the Forsaken! I love it. That's MY kind of love story. ;) Let's take but SOUTH SHORE!!
Thanks for introducing me to Blackmore's Night! I love that song. I'm going to have to get this album and the little snippit of Loreena made me very happy. I love that lady's music.

The guitar player of that "Ghost of a Rose" song was Ritchie Blackmoore of Deep Purple.
Aygen Mar 16th 2011 1:49PM
That knowledge has confounded me for years. I like Deep Purple
I like Folk Music
I like this band.
I still can't connect Deep Purple to This.

Haha thank you; I made myself smile a little with that part, too. I always picture it looking like that when my toon reads a book.

Lordaeron belongs to the Forsaken.
Omegan01 Mar 16th 2011 2:11PM
No, Lordaeron belongs to me.

Also ten years of back-taxes.

I'd still own Southshore but I was offered an army of butlers in exchange.
MURDER BUTLERS.
I think I got the best end of that deal.

Loved it!! Loved the story, loved the music!!
Did I mention... I LOVED IT!!
I hope you continue PallyPowerXIX!!
ladygamertn Mar 16th 2011 2:38PM
I also bought the music from Blackmore's Night. Who knew???
For similar music, check out Jethro Tull, "Songs from the Wood."

Well she DID get her eye blown out by the Lich King, so she didn't come out unscathed.
It all went to hell while she was being patched up in Dalaran. See, I thought this through!
