Around Azeroth: Lost in translation
Where in the world is Jiae of The Clique on Norgannon (US-A)? I'll let her tell you herself: "A group of guildies was getting bored with Lich King content, and we started our own Explorer's League a good eight months before Cataclysm. However, most of our time was spent going to places we really shouldn't have been. I have countless screen shots of sheer zig-zag cliffs, places where eight different textures meet, and literally the end of the world. It was all good fun, but the best of it was when we decided to explore the inside of instanced Zul'Gurub.
Inside the instance, where Deadwind Pass should have been, we found this waiting for us instead. There were small trees and jagged rocks everywhere, and the light was so harsh. Wandering around it actually hurt our eyes and after about 10 minutes I got a splitting headache because nothing made sense. However, I think it is one of the most interesting environments I have ever seen in the game.
Sadly, it no longer exists, and they have long fixed the glitch that allowed us to get there, but on the other hand it means very little harm can come from these screenshots now. I hope you enjoy it as a bit of a different look at Azeroth than the one we are used to."

Kinda reminds me of Demon Fall Canyon/Ridge in Ashenvale, just with less of this "demonic taint"

Oh, that is cool. Ah, to be able to access that "zone" now. Seems bleak enough to be fun.

Hai, Jiae!
That's creepy. :)

Why does this make me think of the nuclear apocalypse?

That's exactly what I thought... it looks like some post-apocalyptic wasteland, and a totally awesome one at that.

I too miss exploring places like that.
My personal favorite was getting up behind Thorium Point by running the ridge between Searing Gorge and Dun Morough. Then, you got up a little west of where the crashed Gnome plane is, and there was just a sheer drop that would eventually take you behind SW in completely undeveloped lands. One of my favorite free-fall drops as a pally. (Have bubble, will base-jump.)
Other than perhaps getting up to Quel'thalas and Old Ironforge (which will be out in the next patch), are there ANY places like this still around?
