Breakfast Topic: Where are the dropped quest lines?
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the AOL guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
I am a reader, and there is nothing I love more than a well-written, intricate plot -- and nothing I hate more than reaching the end of the story, only to find some of those plot strings dangling unresolved, leaving me wondering exactly what happened. I run into the same problem with missing quests in WoW. There are a couple of quests that I desperately wish existed in the game for me to enjoy.
Where is Magatha? There needs to be a quest to find and bring back Magatha Grimtotem to justice, and it would be even better if you had the option of bringing her back dead or alive. My tauren would cut her down where she stood, while my blood elf would shrug and bring her back alive.
The Missing Eggs -- if you have read The Sundering, you know that Krasus rescued Blue Dragonflight eggs and set them outside of time to prevent them from being destroyed. I want to find them, to present them as the resurrection of the Blue Dragonflight and see it change the world.
With the Battlemaid visions of the past, I would love to be involved in things that occurred during the Shattering or the Sundering, to see what happened and be there (in spirit at least) for part of it.
What quests or storyline threads are dangling out there that you want to be involved in resolving? Do they take place in the past or the present? Who do you think escaped from their just desserts a little to easily?

I'd love to know what happens to the black dragonflight egg that that brave little goblin (I forget her name) sacrificed herself and her own egg...that trinket shall stay with me forever

I'm still dying for a CoT: Gnomeregan, where we get to see first hand the events leading up to Thermaplugg's betrayal and the trogg invasion.
I'd also like to see some high-level questlines that return to New Tinkertown and continue the work started as a new gnome character, taking back Gnomeregan. Seems silly to do all those quests, then just be content to sit outside for eternity. "Oh, I should wander off to Kharanos and never return? Okay!" Bah. Gnomes have more pride than that.

Dude. I love the CoT instances. That would be - my head would pop off if they did that. literally. It would spin around so fast winding up and pop off. I'm sure of it. That would be cool.

I would actually prefer a Heroic Gnomeregan in the vein of the Deadmines reboot. We'll have to go down into Gnomeregan deeper than anyone else had before, and it may help prove my sneaking suspicion that Thermaplugg was not just jealous, but driven mad by Old God influence. We'll kill Thermaplugg for good, then wipe out the corrupted central computer pulling all the strings.
"THE SICCO FORM IS DEAD, INSECT. N'ZOTH O'RYLEH F'THAGN!"

Personally, I think at this point, gnomes deserve a raid instance. Chock full of lore-y goodness. Gnomes are the equivalent of trolls in the home department, but we've got MOUNTAINS of troll lore, troll zones, troll instances. 1 lowbie instance for gnomes.

Give them their own city while you are at it. They deserve it. Not only are they the smallest race by stature, they are the most overlooked. I used to want Gnome paladins too (why not they have priests?) but I am having too much fun on my warrior to care about such things. But yeah. Come on. Give us a city. I don't care if people won't visit it. I will. Me and my Gnomies.

Magatha is in Thousand Needles. Fly up, look for the Twilight camp in the Southern region, you'll see what she's up to :)
Knob Mar 17th 2011 8:37AM
I think he knows that. He wants to know what happens to her after we finish the quest chain that involves her.
Shadowwind Mar 17th 2011 1:26PM
My bet? That one's going to get continued somewhere along the line in Cata...and it's going to be either a raid instance or a dungeon. Magatha is WAY too big a villain to be allowed to just slip away.
Boobah Mar 17th 2011 2:55PM
Yeah, at the end of that quest chain you hand her an artifact of unspeakable power, she drives off the Twilight cultists, and sends you on your merry way. And she's still got the artifact, so she probably has more power now, and you'd already conveniently murdered all the other Grimtotem leaders...
Adam Fasoldt Mar 17th 2011 8:12AM
Yeah. What about the dude who gets carried away by a dragon and blown up in Redridge and then suddenly shows up with no explanation in Burning Steppes?

Koltira Deathweaver from the Plagueland quests! I wanna find out what Thassarian does and man oh man... if those two could team up and cut Sylvana down a peg or two...
I just have this bad, bad sinking feeling Koltira is in for a rough ride. : ( I'd love to be apart of some epic quest line that involves going in and saving him. I don't want him to change! D: /grabby hands

*Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis.*
My *roleplaying main* is a death knight and his entire reaction to this, once he got finished freaking out, was to begin planning how best to surgically infiltrate the Undercity and what the precise force ratio would be in order to avoid unnecessary civilian casualties during the course of the rescue/recovery operation. (Look, he's Chaotic Good, okay, he *worries* about this sort of thing.) And how to go about preventing Thassarian from causing an interfactional incident because, while Sylvanas obviously jumped straight off the slippery slope and has now crossed moral event horizons that no free-willed undead being should tolerate, putting her down is a job for the Horde not someone whose theoretical Alliance partisanship could be used to escalate the pre-existing conflict. My general presumption and that of my RP plots is that this situation has essentially caused the Ebon Blade to quietly begin gathering intelligence and preparing for the necessity of war with the Forsaken if Sylvanas cannot be deposed in any other way.
Tirrimas Mar 17th 2011 11:52AM
Koltira's hot.
In an undead, death knight sort of way.
Don't look at me like that.
Linnia Mar 17th 2011 12:59PM
@Tirrimas I'm not side-eying you, I'm high fiving you!
