Is it possible to just sit at the steam pools and way for someone else to find the camel? or is the mob only visible for the person who finds it?

Jeancy - the quest mob is phased. Even if you go to Feralas where he'd be, you won't be able to see him.

Got my camel without even meaning to. Was killing the sheep in Uldum for Critter Killer when my NPC scan pinged (still haven't gotten a single BC rare). Flew around looking for that dang camel statue forever (they are TEENY TINY). Found it, clicked on it, and freaked out when I the cyclone came. Luckily, the Camel Hoarder is super easy to kill. And I'm not even a mount collector.

Then, a few days later, found a second statue in the same spot. Called a guildie in, thinking all camel statues transported you out. Nope - his turned to dust.
