The Queue: This is the best Queue in the world
Whereas on Tuesday I wrote the worst Queue in the world, today, my dear readers, I present the best. Why? Because of the two -- count 'em, two -- awesome machinimas featured.
The first one, above, is Baron Soosdon's This Device Has Been Modified. It was really the first machinima in WoW that I went, "Holy crap, that's great."
After the break, we we have the second featured machinima, making this Queue so full of awesome you'll be BLINDED.
Neothanos asked:
I've been seeing a lot of posts on the Blizz forums of guild imploding over the Cataclysm changes. Did Cataclysm cater too much to the very vocal very active hardcore crowd?
As was mentioned in the comments, the observations about Cataclysm are entirely subjective. One thing that we can say with relative certainty is that each expansion always causes feelings like it's the end of the world for guilds -- and then it turns out it's really not. BC was supposed to destroy WoW because 40-mans were gone, and Wrath was supposed to destroy WoW because no one would want to run 25-mans because there were 10-mans of everything. And now Cataclysm is causing problems.
But at the end of the day? Everything is normal. Guilds go through the most drama when there's change, but that's not a function of WoW. That's a function of humanity.
Marzim asked:
If a person leaves a guild will they start at 0 rep when joining another guild?
Yes, they'll start over at zero. Once you leave a guild and join another, your reputation is cleared. According to some people in the comments that have tried this, Blizzard doesn't automatically clear your reputation forever when just first leave the guild and haven't joined another, so you can rejoin right away if need be and not be penalized.
Cutaia asked:
Recently, I was waiting at the bus stop when suddenly I saw my friends. The problem is, there were people in the front seat and people in the back seat. Are there any theorycrafting resources which can help me determine which seat I should take?
You know that Family Guy episode where Peter sings about the bird being the word, and at one point Brian asks him what he's talking about, and Stewie goes "Brian, don't!"?
That's what everyone just yelled to you.
But back to your question: I believe Rebecca Black has some answers for you. At the end of the day, you'll want to sit in the back seat so you can sit up on it and let your hair wave in the wind. Just be sure to buckle up.
I hope this answer has both been informative and mind-numbing.
Frank asked:
Has Blizz ever talked about updating Wintergrasp so that it's relevant (or at least balanced) again? It was my favorite BG.
It hasn't, and unless it does something in some expansion in the future so that Northrend is central to the story again, I highly doubt Blizzard will put the time into it. It would be nice to see again, don't get me wrong -- but just don't expect it.
And finally, here it is folks: This Queue is now the best Queue in the world.

But......
Everybody knows that the bird is the word.
Chris Mar 17th 2011 11:26AM
I thought Grease was the word? Are you suggesting Frankie Valli lied?
Amaxe Mar 17th 2011 4:06PM
Yes, he did.
Chrisamcnicholas Mar 17th 2011 11:12AM
You should clarify, I you leave a guild and re-join within 10 days without joining another guild your rep is restored.

Ok I have a question concerning Raid lockouts.
I think I remember a long time ago that 25 person raids would be able to be broken up and continued as 2 ten person raids. Is this true? How is it done exactly?
MattKrotzer Mar 17th 2011 11:18AM
They've changed this, actually. Everyone now essentially has a personal lockout for the bosses they've killed. They can join another raid that is at the same progression point, or one that's further along, but not one that still has bosses they're locked out from.
Theoretically, you could split a 25-man group into 25 groups, if you had enough other players to fill 25 raids.
(cutaia) Mar 17th 2011 11:21AM
It's not that you have to do something specific to "break it up." It's just that they share lockouts.
So if you killed Magmaw on 10-man and you see a 25-man raid looking for more with Magmaw down, you can join it. When you guys kill Omnotron, and suddenly 5 people all have their goldfishes die, you can get into 2 10-man raids and both will see Magmaw and Omnotron dead already.
Basically, you can kill each boss once a week. Doesn't matter if it's in 10-man, 25-man, normal or heroic. Once it's dead...it's dead until Tuesday.
Grovinofdarkhour Mar 17th 2011 11:42AM
There's something I'm not sure of, can anyone confirm:
I'm under the impression the raid lockout system is not just a dead-or-alive checklist, but that there's a specific order of bosses they consider "correct", and if you join with a raid that's farther than you, and down something, you might miss out on bosses they didn't kill.
For example, Omnotron is listed as 2nd boss in BWD. Let's say my group goes in Tuesday night, ignores Magmaw because none of us needs any gear off Magmaw anymore, and just kills Omnotron, and regroups on Wednesday with a couple of pugs who haven't been in yet this week. We explain we don't need Magmaw and we're going after Maloriak, and they're OK with it. If we down him, the pugs won't be locked out of doing just Omnotron for the week, but Magmaw as well, because they were in on a boss kill further down the list.
Is this correct or not?
Amak Mar 17th 2011 11:58AM
You can't enter a raid instance if you have killed a boss that the first person who entered the instance (and therefore created the instance) hasn't. This causes some issues when you have someone who is "saved" to a boss who enters before the raid leader, often requiring the raid to disband and regroup.
If you haven't downed a boss(es) that the instance has listed as dead you will get a dialog informing you that you will be saved to the kills when you enter. Note that you will not be saved until the next boss is killed.
Heroic modes still save you to an ID.
(cutaia) Mar 17th 2011 11:59AM
I don't think it's correct Grov. I do have a lot of reasons behind this, but they're taking me way too long to type out, so I'll just leave it there.
Sinthar Mar 17th 2011 12:11PM
Additionally to the other comments. Please note that this feature of the raid ID only counts on CATA raids. If you go back and say do Sunwell with a few mates, leave it for a few days, and then go back, if one of the other people you did it with has gone back and completed it, you will find an EMPTY raid.

"I'm under the impression the raid lockout system is not just a dead-or-alive checklist, but that there's a specific order of bosses they consider "correct", and if you join with a raid that's farther than you, and down something, you might miss out on bosses they didn't kill."
Nope. It's just that most of the time you are forced to kill bosses in a specific order; if you can't get to Nefarion without killing an earlier boss, then you'll end up saved to that earlier boss (at least) because you'll find that you get saved to every dead boss in the instance when a boss dies.
Heroics still have an actual raid ID, though, and you can't mix and match those. Or at least you couldn't when they rolled it out.
"Please note that this feature of the raid ID only counts on CATA raids."
Actually, it counts on any raid added in 3.3 or later; Blizz retrofitted this system to ICC and Halion with patch 4.0.1 (to much wailing and gnashing of teeth, because it meant that you couldn't do both heroic and regular ICC in the same week.)
kaminari Mar 17th 2011 3:41PM
@grovin: I think it's just a dead or alive bosses since you can do the blind dragon, chimeron and maloriak on any order you like, also it works better for optional bosses.
Tegrom Mar 17th 2011 9:13PM
The obvious solution to this would be to have the lockouts work like talent trees in a sense, you can kill bosses within a section in any order (optional bosses or simply those that have no specific order in which to be killed) but there is some condition which has to be filled for the next 'tier' of bosses to be available (Either a specific boss dead, or all bosses in a section).
If you're saved on an optional boss and the condition is still not fulfilled you can only access bosses you have not killed personally, however you can also join any raid which has already killed the bosses which you have already completed.
In order to prevent people from killing bosses multiple times then it would be necessary to lock a player out of all bosses in the previous section if they kill a boss and become saved to the following 'tier' of bosses.
This system is suggested by the fact that it was trialled on the bosses of Ulduar and Icecrown citadel, both raids which have clear and obvious sections and divisions with well defined progression levels or tiers.

I'm not sure about the whole guild rep question. I know that if you get booted from your guild and you rejoin you don't loose any of your rep, I think it gives you the option to keep it or clear it, but not if you join a completely different guild. In our guild some people get booted out just for a laugh, its been going on for years and we had done this early on in the xpac and forgot about the whole rep thing but blizz made it so that you have the option to keep the rep you already gained with your guild. I would imagine that if you leave and come back (without joining another guild) that it would still be there. So sorry holisky, you are right about joining a new guild will start you at zero but if you leave your current guild (or get booted) and come back (again without joining a new guild) then you should still have the rep you had when you left.
zweitblom Mar 17th 2011 11:29AM
"If a person leaves a guild will they start at 0 rep when joining _another_ guild?"
Good job reading the question, bro...
Kurtis Mar 17th 2011 11:41AM
"so even if you rejoin, you'll have to start over at zero rep."
Great job reading the answer, bro. ;)
