The Queue: This is the best Queue in the world
Whereas on Tuesday I wrote the worst Queue in the world, today, my dear readers, I present the best. Why? Because of the two -- count 'em, two -- awesome machinimas featured.
The first one, above, is Baron Soosdon's This Device Has Been Modified. It was really the first machinima in WoW that I went, "Holy crap, that's great."
After the break, we we have the second featured machinima, making this Queue so full of awesome you'll be BLINDED.
Neothanos asked:
I've been seeing a lot of posts on the Blizz forums of guild imploding over the Cataclysm changes. Did Cataclysm cater too much to the very vocal very active hardcore crowd?
As was mentioned in the comments, the observations about Cataclysm are entirely subjective. One thing that we can say with relative certainty is that each expansion always causes feelings like it's the end of the world for guilds -- and then it turns out it's really not. BC was supposed to destroy WoW because 40-mans were gone, and Wrath was supposed to destroy WoW because no one would want to run 25-mans because there were 10-mans of everything. And now Cataclysm is causing problems.
But at the end of the day? Everything is normal. Guilds go through the most drama when there's change, but that's not a function of WoW. That's a function of humanity.
Marzim asked:
If a person leaves a guild will they start at 0 rep when joining another guild?
Yes, they'll start over at zero. Once you leave a guild and join another, your reputation is cleared. According to some people in the comments that have tried this, Blizzard doesn't automatically clear your reputation forever when just first leave the guild and haven't joined another, so you can rejoin right away if need be and not be penalized.
Cutaia asked:
Recently, I was waiting at the bus stop when suddenly I saw my friends. The problem is, there were people in the front seat and people in the back seat. Are there any theorycrafting resources which can help me determine which seat I should take?
You know that Family Guy episode where Peter sings about the bird being the word, and at one point Brian asks him what he's talking about, and Stewie goes "Brian, don't!"?
That's what everyone just yelled to you.
But back to your question: I believe Rebecca Black has some answers for you. At the end of the day, you'll want to sit in the back seat so you can sit up on it and let your hair wave in the wind. Just be sure to buckle up.
I hope this answer has both been informative and mind-numbing.
Frank asked:
Has Blizz ever talked about updating Wintergrasp so that it's relevant (or at least balanced) again? It was my favorite BG.
It hasn't, and unless it does something in some expansion in the future so that Northrend is central to the story again, I highly doubt Blizzard will put the time into it. It would be nice to see again, don't get me wrong -- but just don't expect it.
And finally, here it is folks: This Queue is now the best Queue in the world.

Okay, Rexxar does indeed have an orc father. I assume there was a drinking contest with dwarves and some sort of dare game in play.
Amaxe Mar 17th 2011 4:11PM
@Grumbly
The WoW RPG Horde manual says essentially that about the Half ogres.

Quick question for the Queue:
It says everywhere that dying does not damage your equipment in PvP.
I have just started to do Tol Barad battles, and after every battle I need to repair my equipment. Isn't there a contradiction there?
MattKrotzer Mar 17th 2011 11:31AM
Are you doing the dailies too? Fighting NPCs?
If not, submit a bug report.
Bapo Mar 17th 2011 11:32AM
You being killed doesn't result in the 10% durability loss, but the damage your items suffered while fighting, is what you are paying for
Chuie Mar 17th 2011 11:33AM
You still get normal wear n tear. The dead thing is a 10% durability lost on pve death which doesn't happen in pvp.
Spelio Mar 17th 2011 11:33AM
Your equipment takes damage due to fighting (hitting something, getting get). You just don't lose the "extra" 10% durability reduction like you would from dieing to a mob.
Cephas Mar 17th 2011 12:48PM
Check your log to see what killed you and if there is a message telling you that your equipped items sustained a 10% durability loss. If the killing blow came from a player and you suffered the 10% loss you should definitely submit a bug report.

On this topic I have a Q for the Queue:
Has Blizz ever talked about implementing a damage-taken visual effect on your armor? Similar to how a character gets scars or ages in the "Fable" franchise games? It could work by taking into account how many points of your durability loss you've accumulated on each [major] piece of armor. If not a permanent effect (someone who's had armor for years looks more banged up than someone who just bought the same kind) then at least deteriorate as the durability approaches 00/xx then gets shiny after repairing again.

Adam,
You truly have mastered the art of gathering low-hanging fruit.
Regardless, you are forgiven. For now.
Grovin
P.S. What is her name? I must have her, for my collection.

Queue Question for y'all: Why is it mainly 3 people who handle the queue? There are several writers employed for WoW Insider, but I haven't seen many of them write a single Queue.
I guess what I'm asking is...can Christian Belt write the Queue some time? ^_^
Kurtis Mar 17th 2011 11:43AM
Maybe these are the most thick-skinned of the writers?
MattKrotzer Mar 17th 2011 11:49AM
Certain people handle certain assignments. It's not likely we'll see Mike Sacco writing a Care & Feeding of Warriors article... that's Rossi's thing. Same reason the same folks handle Queue chores, I'd imagine.
Grovinofdarkhour Mar 17th 2011 11:52AM
I may be wrong, but I get the impression doing The Queue is "the fun job" at WoW Insider.
Scroll up and click "About Us". These 3 are the senior editors. They've earned it.
Although I do seem to remember them letting Fox do it once. It was like Mardi Gras up in here. Good times. They could totally do that again.
Grovinofdarkhour Mar 17th 2011 11:56AM
And if I'm wrong about it being "the fun job"... well, they're the senior editors. They're stuck with it.
I think it'd be fun, though.
Cataca Mar 17th 2011 6:01PM
I imagine that its riddled with both feelings of love and hate. Writing the Queue can be easy sometimes. Pick a few questions maybe look up a few wowpedia or wowhead pages and blast out an answer or an opinion. Quick and dirty.
But then you have to come up with at least SOMETHING to say before the cut but what can you really say the relates to a public Q&A article. So you either flounder, post pictures of your dog/cat or horrible trolling against the next writer. That can be either daunting or comical depending on their mood that day.
And then you have to wade through pages of useless inane babble to actually find something to talk about. Like dumpster diving trying to find that one diamond in the rough and then having to settle for half eaten hot dogs instead.
Chokaa Mar 17th 2011 11:36AM
So the bloodelf was using CTS's but what were the human's weaps? Alliance pvp 1hers?
Also, wtb more Baron Soosdon vids. The one he made with ETC covering Flyleaf's 'I'm so sick' is pretty awesome

Question for the queue:
Is there anywhere I can go to read information about how LFD and specifically /votekick works? I realize (now) that there's a counter that tracks your /votekicks and gives you a delay based on that, but there should be some sort of documentation on this, shouldn't there?
Wolfshanze Mar 17th 2011 12:13PM
The Vote/Kick system heavily depends on if you're kickin' it to someone in the front seat or kickin' it to someone in the back seat and whether or not your friend is by your right (I got this, you got this, now you know it).
Boobah Mar 17th 2011 12:34PM
Blizzard has carefully NOT explained the details of thresholds and the like in an attempt to prevent players from being the biggest jerks they can be without consequences.
Blues have also mentioned they sometimes tweak the exact settings which, whatever other motivations they may have, also has the effect of screwing with the people attempting to game the system.
