The Queue: This is the best Queue in the world
Whereas on Tuesday I wrote the worst Queue in the world, today, my dear readers, I present the best. Why? Because of the two -- count 'em, two -- awesome machinimas featured.
The first one, above, is Baron Soosdon's This Device Has Been Modified. It was really the first machinima in WoW that I went, "Holy crap, that's great."
After the break, we we have the second featured machinima, making this Queue so full of awesome you'll be BLINDED.
Neothanos asked:
I've been seeing a lot of posts on the Blizz forums of guild imploding over the Cataclysm changes. Did Cataclysm cater too much to the very vocal very active hardcore crowd?
As was mentioned in the comments, the observations about Cataclysm are entirely subjective. One thing that we can say with relative certainty is that each expansion always causes feelings like it's the end of the world for guilds -- and then it turns out it's really not. BC was supposed to destroy WoW because 40-mans were gone, and Wrath was supposed to destroy WoW because no one would want to run 25-mans because there were 10-mans of everything. And now Cataclysm is causing problems.
But at the end of the day? Everything is normal. Guilds go through the most drama when there's change, but that's not a function of WoW. That's a function of humanity.
Marzim asked:
If a person leaves a guild will they start at 0 rep when joining another guild?
Yes, they'll start over at zero. Once you leave a guild and join another, your reputation is cleared. According to some people in the comments that have tried this, Blizzard doesn't automatically clear your reputation forever when just first leave the guild and haven't joined another, so you can rejoin right away if need be and not be penalized.
Cutaia asked:
Recently, I was waiting at the bus stop when suddenly I saw my friends. The problem is, there were people in the front seat and people in the back seat. Are there any theorycrafting resources which can help me determine which seat I should take?
You know that Family Guy episode where Peter sings about the bird being the word, and at one point Brian asks him what he's talking about, and Stewie goes "Brian, don't!"?
That's what everyone just yelled to you.
But back to your question: I believe Rebecca Black has some answers for you. At the end of the day, you'll want to sit in the back seat so you can sit up on it and let your hair wave in the wind. Just be sure to buckle up.
I hope this answer has both been informative and mind-numbing.
Frank asked:
Has Blizz ever talked about updating Wintergrasp so that it's relevant (or at least balanced) again? It was my favorite BG.
It hasn't, and unless it does something in some expansion in the future so that Northrend is central to the story again, I highly doubt Blizzard will put the time into it. It would be nice to see again, don't get me wrong -- but just don't expect it.
And finally, here it is folks: This Queue is now the best Queue in the world.

Is there any clue in the ptr or patch notes of the other 4.1 raid? It's suppose to be 2 raids per patch, isn't it? Firelands and what else? Is there any hintch of the cavern of time's new raid?
Broxxigar, anyone?
MattKrotzer Mar 17th 2011 11:50AM
There's no raid in 4.1. Firelands will be in 4.2.
(cutaia) Mar 17th 2011 12:08PM
As for 4.2, we still haven't heard a single bit of confirmation about what raid will accompany Firelands. But we do indeed have some nice hints that Caverns of Time: War of the Ancients will be it (like the legendary staff's pieces and a few interesting camera angles data-mined from the PTR). We'll just have to keep waiting for the official announcement, though.

"It's suppose to be 2 raids per patch, isn't it?"
Where did you get this idea? Except for actual expansions (and maybe 2.1, I'd have to check, I can't think of any patch that came with two raids. I don't remember anything about them planning to do it for 4.1.

He's referring to the stated overall philosophy for Cataclysm. They said before Cataclysm's release that they wanted to do multiple raids with 6-ish bosses each patch instead of one raid with 12 bosses. Obviously it can change, but that was what they wanted initially.
Sidenote: I got sidetracked trying to find a quote amongst all the old Blizzcon info. I didn't find it, but hey, remember when that kid hurt himself dancing and Keanu Reeves carried him off stage?

Thank you for linking my favorite mechanima of ALL TIME. Helped get rid of the awful earworms I've had stuck in my head all week.

THERE.

Very clever parody. Harkens to the spirit of the original while adding it's own twist. However there is just one thing that throws a shadow over the whole thing. No Statler and Waldorf.

Lore question:
Once you hit Storm Peaks, you eventually end up in the very matriarchal village of the hyldnir, as I understand a faction of the overall vrykul populace of Northrend. But why are they set apart?
As far as I've seen in my travels, the vrykul seem to be an extremely hierarchic society, with males as the dominant fighter class and women the dominant spell class. So why do we have an all female, indeed militant radical female (keeping male vrykuls as slaves), village on the frontline of, as I understand, an age old enemy of the vrykul - the frost giants, with both female fighters and spellcasters?
Have I screwed something up? Am I a redneck orc or just an aloof draenei (Well, I _am_ a draenei, and really! The low degree of civilisation you others have reached? Shame on you! Without goblins you wouldn't even have spaceships - and ours are made from crystals!) - please help. It's bugging me!
(cutaia) Mar 17th 2011 12:03PM
Maybe those women are still pissed off about the "kill all the babies" thing. Hell hath no fury and all that...
Boobah Mar 17th 2011 1:05PM
Sif was a rebellious young woman who took up the warrior's trade and attracted Thorim's attention and eventually became his bride. Her story became well known, and eventually many women dedicated themselves to Thorim and moved to the Storm Peaks, modeling themselves on Sif. The men, who weren't having any of this, were fought and eventually enslaved.
Thorim used the Frostborn in his war with the Sons of Hodir because he couldn't bear to look upon his dead wife's people.
When Arthas showed up, even a god of death was better to the women of Valkyrion than that moping pansy at the Temple of Storms. Half the point of being Hyldnir was that one of their own was Thorim's wife, and despite sending their best to him he didn't even really look at them, a terrible insult.
(Actual lore? Nope. Just educated guesses.)
Dreyja Mar 17th 2011 1:34PM
Am I the only one that gave a bit of a o.O double-take at the size difference between Thorim and all those ladies vying for his attention? I mean... erm... how does THAT work in the bedroom?
Sorry! I know! But You know YOU all thought about it too! X-p
Grovinofdarkhour Mar 17th 2011 1:48PM
Hey Drey.. you busy later? :)
Sorry, someone had to say it.
MattKrotzer Mar 17th 2011 2:18PM
@Dreyja:
Imagine how poor Jaina Proudmoore feels. Sure, she's a bit taller than most, but I really think Arthas still dwarfs her.
Ametrine Mar 17th 2011 4:37PM
Well, Dreyja, I think of it like the line from that one House episode...
House: I’m certainly curious about the logistics. Did you stand on a table?
Dr. Cameron: House!
Maddy: Pretty much he'd lay flat and spin me.

2 questions about Tol Barad:
1. Why is the quest A Hug eProblem only worth 1 commendation when it clearly takes more than 1 perosn to complete the quest?
2. When dong the quest to kill 12 alliance(I am horde), the Draenei Paladins have no loot table. Why is that?
(cutaia) Mar 17th 2011 12:13PM
"1. Why is the quest A Hug eProblem only worth 1 commendation when it clearly takes more than 1 perosn to complete the quest?"
Because it's the fastest and easiest daily on that island? All you have to do is follow him around for a few seconds until someone else shows up looking for him. You don't have to group up or anything...anyone who even attacks him once gets credit.
"2. When dong the quest to kill 12 alliance(I am horde), the Draenei Paladins have no loot table. Why is that?"
If that's true, sounds like a minor bug. Report it on the bug report forums.
