Breakfast Topic: The most memorable raid interruption

Way back in the days of yore, before Cataclysm, before Wrath, before even TBC, I was a hunter striving for my Beaststalker pants, and my family had just brought home a new kitten. This was a kitten we'd waited for for over a year, the first purebred Siamese cat we'd owned. She had been welcomed with love into a house full of new toys and kitty beds and expensive cat food, but this kitten had a bad attitude. She yowled. She hissed. She hid under furniture and scratched. Finally, when night fell, we had to shut her up in her special kitten room and hope that the next day proved more encouraging. Dejected, I sat down for an evening of Baron runs to soothe my cat owner's ego.
We had just finished Baroness Anastari when I heard a noise from downstairs, a long, mournful yowl. I immediately feared that the new cat had somehow come to harm. With a quick "brb cat's crying," I rushed down to see what was wrong.
Nothing. The kitten was fine. In fact, she hissed when she saw me. Figures, I thought, and turned away, but when I reached the door, she meowed pitifully again. Experimentally, I opened the door and gathered her up, and she didn't murder me. I carried the kitten upstairs and plopped her on my bed in front of my laptop, where she was immediately entranced by the night elf on the screen. As soon as I announced my return, she pounced on the keys, delighted that she could make the elf move and jump. We finished the dungeon without incident, and I will always remember that run as the night I bonded with that lovely, cantankerous kitten.
What's the most memorable raid or dungeon interruption you've experienced? Do you still talk about it to this day?

"Ummm... can I go afk for a few? The cows got out of their pasture..." Words that will forever live in infamy in our raids.

This could happen in our raid.
Mainly cause I live on my parent's farm and I help take care of the livestock - goats not cows though.
So I could see it :)

Not really a reply to this, but have to say...if you want great laughter and entertainment, READ THESE COMMENTS!!
Yet another reason why I love the WoW community. You guys and girls help make a crappy day here better. Thanks!

Are/were you in my guild? A guy named Tanksinatra had to leave mid raid with those exact words.

mine? "Umm... guys, I gotta go. My wife's gone into labour." This, when we're raiding.
Rai Mar 18th 2011 9:01AM
Yeah, we also had "sorry guys, gotta go - sister's giving birth".
Rapskallion Mar 18th 2011 9:29AM
Heh... I actually did this. My wife started labor for our third child while the raid and I were working on H-LK last October. I just said on vent, "gotta run, folks -- baby is coming" and hearthed.
I think the best we had was back during bear runs in ZA one of our pally tanks had informed us some bad weather was coming through his area. I don't remember where we were in the instance, but he just said over vent, "tornado is here... gotta move". He picked up his laptop and played from his basement/shelter area while a tornado blew through his town.

I have also had this happen, except the woman was our raid leader and she went into labor during a run through Karazan. I will never forget the day I had to help my GM count through her labor breaths as her husband called an ambulance.

I had a similar one in a Botanica run back in Burning Crusade:
"brb, cat giving birth"
Explained shortly afterward that her cat was in a box next to her desk, taking a rather long time to do nature wonderful, messy miracle.

At my old apartment, we would get terrible wind issues due to our placement at the top of a hill. During one raid, I heard a terrible bang outside, and said, "AFK. Grill just exploded."
By the time I went outside, picked the grill up from where it had toppled, and retaken my seat at the computer, my guild had woven an epic tale about how I'd gone to fight off invading terrorists with a propane tank as my weapon.
It still comes up from time to time, 2 years later.

There was also, "Hey, {name omitted} just texted me. He's stuck in his dorm's elevator. He's not sure how soon he'll be back." That was an amusing one during our 10-minute drink/bio break.
And the infamous, "I think my cat just crawled out the window, be right back," which turned into a 45-minute afk and the demise of that night's raid.

*said in a very choaked up voice* Guys, I have to go. That was the phone call. My Mom just died.
(Absolute true story. Feb 3rd, 2010. My Mom passed away while we were in the Plaquewing.)
Ametrine Mar 18th 2011 6:09PM
My belated condolences on your loss.

One that my old guild remembered for years was my "Guys, I've gotta go, I'm bleeding pretty badly" after having dropped a knife which impaled my left forearm. All it left was a scar, and a good laugh for my guild every few weeks.
The best one I've encountered personally was 'Hey, I need to go, my water just broke', though the one with the most unfortunate implications was my trucker guild-leader's 'whoops, gotta go guys. Traffic's speeding up and my exit's in four miles.'

Oh, and in recent years, due to a semi-broken soundcard, my voice over vent comes out as though I'm in a helicopter. The general consensus among my guildies (FOR THE PAST THREE GUILDS) is that I'm in a witness protection program that never touches down for long. If I have to go AFK for any reason, I'll sometimes say something like 'damn, they found us, BRB' followed by a muffled 'COBRAAAA' or 'HAIL HYDRA' or something along those lines.
Wulfhound Mar 18th 2011 10:27AM
This made me morning, HAIL COBRA! LOL!
Jeroen Mar 18th 2011 11:30AM
I lolled so hard... @work... Peeps are looking at me like I've gone mad.. they will never understand!
Frostwound Mar 18th 2011 8:19AM
girl in our raid went "shit brb my cat vomit on me."
Hal Mar 18th 2011 9:06AM
Heh, most of mine are like that.
"BRB, cat just pooped in the kitchen."
"Gimme a minute, the cat just threw up on the cable box."
*DC'd for 10 min.* "Sorry guys, the cat likes to hit the switch that controls the outlet my PC is hooked up to."
CloakedDrifter Mar 18th 2011 9:56AM
I think cat-related incidents are popular. Already have a few in the comments. And even just last night, my girlfriend and I were running heroic BRC and as soon as we started Rom'Ogg Bonecrusher, our cat went psycho and started spamming swipe, rake, and ferocious bite on our legs. Trying to manage cat aggro meant we didn't escape from the first skullcracker cast and died. The other 3 in the group were able to finish off the boss while our dear cat got quarantined in the bedroom.
