Breakfast Topic: Care to share any recent embarrassing moments?

It was my first run through regular Grim Batol. I was in a guild group made up of the movers and shakers, including the guild leader. I was still a fairly new member of the guild and had never actually run anything with the leader in tow, so I was feeling on my guard. This was the first time in GB for several of us, so things were getting spelled out as we went. The bombing run went adequately, and so did General Umbriss. I'd managed to dodge the worst of it so far, and my DPS was holding up all right, so I was beginning to puff out my chest and not feel like a total failure.
We crept around the corner and the tank began pulling the trash leading up to Forgemaster Throngus. I peeked my head around the corner to see what was going on ... and my water elemental promptly pulled Throngus and everything else in the entryway. We all fought valiantly but suffered the inevitable wipe.
Fortunately, everyone was in good spirits about it and laughed. It's become a bit of a guild joke, and I now get told when I should stay put, but I was completely mortified and wanted to slink out the back door with my draenei tail between my legs.
What moment has made you want to log off in shame and never return?

I have also left a chat box open accidentally, but I find that once I figure out the problem it is best to hit escape to clear the box instead of posting my mistake to the raid :/

Aye been there done that.
Once in a raid my friend (the MT) took time from tanking to /w me 'you alright - your not doing anything!'
My answer?

I rolled my first tank back in January (prot/ret paladin). Prot is my secondary spec, but I love tanking so much that i only use Ret when I'm queueing for a dungeon that I don't know very well, as this will be my first toon to hit level cap. Saturday night, I ran Azjol-Nerub for the first time. We had a tank who couldn't hold aggro, so when he got frustrated and ended up leaving the group, I switched to my Prot spec and volunteered to tank.
...only I forgot to cast Righteous Fury first.
I'm sure you can guess what happened next.

This happens to me all the time! I can't wait till 4.1, when it no longer drops on death - I constantly forget to reapply it after a wipe, often leading to ANOTHER wipe.

Happens to me all the time and I don't even have an off spec, least you have a bit of an excuse. Was worse when it had half hour cooldown and cost mana to rebuff, so many times I ran in, realised it was off, rebuffed it then didn't have enough mana for a decent threat build up.

I ran out of the group when I got the debuff in red phase Maloriak. Except that I was the tank. >.>

Try spending most of the last 20% telling DPS to move out of the fire in front of him, while not noticing being thrown you up into the air yourself. Doh.

My main is a Ret pally...didn't realize I was holding down the PTT button on my headset while talking to myself & making sound effects (BOOSH!) every time I used Exorcism. After who knows how long one of my friends in the guild whispered "Dude, we can all hear you." I let go of the button, then a couple secs later, I said "Sorry" and pretty much the whole raid busted out laughing. Now when I log on, I usually get "BOOSH! Ben's here!" (or some variant) comIng across my chat window, and/or I'm instructed to "BOOSH" something down during a raid.

This happened a long time ago (late vanilla), but it still makes me laugh. My husband, boyfriend at the time, had just got me to start playing and he figured I'd like the little non-combats pets (little he did know he started a monster, I now have 140+ of them) so he brought me to Westfall for the hidden chicken quest. He told me to make a /chicken macro, after he explained to me what a macro was I did and was able to find the chicken and was ready to cluck cluck cluck. Well, I somehow hit the wrong button and whacked it with my staff. Poor little chicken. Next chicken..WHACK!...next chicken...WHACK! We were laughing so hard, I think it took me 45 minutes to finally get that stupid chicken egg. He still brings it up every time we see a chicken critter by running up to it killing it and does a /chicken.

My husband went away on a trip & took my laptop so he could still play Wow. When he got back we did a raid with some friends in a Christian guild that had very strict rules on language, some guildies even let their kids listen in on the raid. Not knowing that a very important key used in my healing was now re-bound to vent (thanks to hubby) my big time potty mouth blasted through everyone's speakers at the first wipe. The silence and awkwardness that followed made me want to just hearth.

Back at the start of Cata I'd been tanking a few 10 man raids. Nothing too complex but I never seemed to be in the group for a Magmaw kill. I'd read up on tactics and knew what to do, or so I thought.
I finally got in a run to kill the big squishy worm, I was off tank first so my job was to jump on his back and click the chains. So up I jump during P2 and start spam clicking on the ground, desperately complaining about why it isn't working on Mumble. Raid leader helpfully suggests I click on the spike rather than the ground.
Cue howls of laughter and a quick reset, the guild with a very red faced tank 1.5 shots the boss.

The scene: I was a fairly fresh 60 hunter in Molten Core, not yet burned out on the raid but not very experienced with it either, trying my best to be as useful as I could and not pull aggro from our tanks. Things are going well, we're past the initial core packs and well on our way to Gehennas. The tanks carefully pull a pair of Core Giants and I give them sufficient aggro time, then aim and send in my pet and start shooting.
All I remember seeing was my turtle bounding towards a far pair of Core Giants like a tiny, green, unstoppable bullet. Needless to say, it was a wipe.
Everyone laughed and teased me about it, but I never used a pet in Molten Core again.

More than once I have been leveling fishing while waiting in PvP or dungeon ques, yeah needless to say it's embarrasing having someone tell me I've been using my fishing pole for 20 minutes...

Recently got the courage up to start PuGing randoms (normal, not even heroic). First time in Grim Batol, mage went running for the drakes, and promptly found the break in the ground and fell down into the lava.
Rancid Mar 21st 2011 1:28PM
Ha, yes i did that today *blush*
Kiomi Mar 22nd 2011 6:44AM

Luckily i was with my guild, so everyone had a good laugh, and i got to run back, since i was out of reach for anyone to rez me.

Let's see here Azjol-Nerub didn't have blood prescence on the entire dungeon, fell off the edge doing a pull in forge of souls (had time to type AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! before i died), did 2 pulls of Anraphet in halls of origination before I noticed my gear was broken. Healed up thru the 1st boss in grim batol before I noticed I was healing in kitty spec. Tanked and healed the 1st bosses in Trial of champeen with my argent lance equipped. Was stuck walking backwards in utgarde keep while trying to heal the 1st 2 pulls because the tank didn't notice my whisp (could not stop laffing after he noticed). Fell off the edge in nexus while just mindlessly jumping around. Tanked most of nexus before I noticed the healer had dc'ed shortly after the 1st boss(we had great deeps who had a good laff when I asked how long the healer had been gone). I am sure there are others but those are just the DOH moments I could think of.
