Last panel could be what Kelly was referring to:
"Well, that settles it. Saddle up, kids... We're taking you home."
Home to many implies a place where you and your family reside, especially for children. They (the kids) could have taken Mr. Orc's statement to mean they were being returned to their home, and therefore, their parents.
Ennarai's explanation is cake to the kids. 'Cause, ya know...

Once again, I love this little human she's so spunky but my heart is breaking over here.
I also missed where Mr. Orc said anything about her family. I have to go read back. :) Nice excuse to do just that. :D

He didn't say anything on Panel. Already went and looked earlier, however, that does not mean it was not implied or said off panel.

Maybe we'll have an issue or two featuring a flashback to a "serious conversation" that Mr. Orc might have had with the girls? That would add depth to what is already a great relationship...
