Breakfast Topic: What's your dailies routine?
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the AOL guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
Love them or hate them, daily quests have become a staple in WoW. In The Burning Crusade, you had your cooking, fishing, daily dungeons, Sha'tari Skyguard and the Shattered Sun dailies (toward the end of BC). In Wrath of the Lich King, you had profession, dungeon, faction-specific dailies and the Argent Tournament. You could do all 25 dailies and still have a handful you weren't able to complete.
In Wrath, I made sure I always did my cooking and fishing dailies. I was determined to get one of the rare fishing poles (which I still have yet to get, by the way). I also did one faction at a time until I was exalted. When the Argent Tournament was introduced, that became my first stop of the day. I would start at the tournament, move onto The Storm Peaks for the Sons of Hodir, back to Dalaran and then to Sholazar Basin to convince the Oracles that I needed a Green Proto-Drake. (Turns out the Oracles don't have any Green Proto-Drakes and the Mysterious Egg they sell is really just a scam.)
Do you follow a routine while you're in WoW? Do you have a route that you follow religiously, or do you pick your dailies at random each day?

My routine is usually just herbing. I dont really do dailies or anything of the sort.
fedorhajdu Mar 23rd 2011 8:08AM
Too many routines make things boring. So I don't have any routines that I stick to.
While I needed gear to start raiding I did heroics, while I needed rep from Hellscream Reach I did TB dailies etc.
So I do them, but try to do as few as possible.

On my main I stopped doing dailies as soon as I got exalted with them all.
Being a resto druid doing dailies is not an enjoyable experience.
Starting to think I need to start them on my 85 alt start saving up gold for the Sandstone Drake.
Peli Mar 23rd 2011 9:24AM
It's the same for me. My main (Blood DK) is exalted with all but TB, and when I hit exalted I stopped doing that particular faction's dailies. I've done the same on my alt (Resto Druid), so now I only do dailies for Ramkahen on that character.
In my (very little) free time, I run heroics, BH, and level alts.

I have only been playing since the start of the year, so I'm still learning lots! I only do fishing and cooking dailies in SW right now, but I guess there are more for me to do?? I like them because they're kind of my "warm up," I guess. ;) I like the easy XP, and am also looking out for that Tiffany's Fishing Pole. :D
Where else should I be going? I want more!!

"Where else should I be going? I want more!!"
There are a bunch. You say you only started playing this year; what level are you? I don't think there are any daily quests before level 68 or so (what used to be the endgame, when 70 was the maximum level). There are a bunch of dailies in Outland in the 68-70 range. There are at least a dozen dailies scattered around Northrend, and four major clusters at daily quest hubs for level 80 characters: the Sons of Hodir's ice palace in the Storm Peaks, the airship flying over Icecrown, the two Ebon Blade towns on the northwest and north-central side of Icecrown, and the Argent Tournament, on the northeast.
However, don't worry about those until and unless you decide to go for some esoteric achievements, like mount-collecting and getting exalted reputation with old factions. If you want to get to 85 and get into the current endgame content, the daily quests you should check out are the Tol Barad dailies (Baradin Wardens, the faction is called, since you're Alliance), the Therazane dailies, the Twilight Highlands dailies (Wildhammer Clan of dwarves for you) and two Ramkahen dailies. They each reward money and a good chunk of reputation with the associated factions. If you're interested, look up each of those factions on wowpedia or wowhead.

Well, my main is a lvl 55 Human Fire Mage. I like her a lot. I guess I'm still pretty low to be worrying about it based on what you're saying. Most of the places and things you said are foreign to me.. literally. LOL. I honestly don't know half of what you just said, but I love this game and I like learning, so don't call me a noob! :p
Any help is appreciated!... just don't tell me to go to scary dungeons by myself. :(
Neyssa Mar 23rd 2011 9:02AM
At lvl55 there are no other dailies that I know of.
I would recommend you to keep on doing them, because if you gather lots of tokens, and level your professions while leveling it will be much much easier when you reach max level.
I bought a wow-account for my nephew and he rushed to be lvl85. Now he stuck with no money and no gear and he is sad that he has to go back to the old stuff to level a profession, and start doing dailies (and I am the cruel one for not sending him gold, well we all have to earn what we have right? :)

Rather than just doing dailies to do dailies, check out the factions listings in atlasloot (great addon, get it if you don't have it already... also get ratingsbuster to work in tandem with atlasloot) and figure out what gear would be an upgrade for you and work toward those.
livingmercy Mar 23rd 2011 9:13AM
The addon thing is still a bit of a mystery to me... I guess I need to read up on those some more. Thanks!

Yes, you're a little low. You may have noticed that the quest markers for your dailies in Stormwind are blue rather than yellow. Remember that for when you're higher level, if you see a quest giver with the blue marker you'll know you can do their quests daily instead of just once.
When seasonal events (like the recent "Love is in the Air") are around, there is often a daily quest associated with them which may be accessible at 55. WoW insider will probably mention this in coverage of the event too. Such quests usually reward you with some XP, a little money and a fun item or token that can be exchanged for such items so they're worth doing at least in your first year. Even if the quest is a little tricky the first time, being repeatable every day means once you get the hang of it you can do it with your eyes shut like the cooking daily. Once the event ends, you can't do the daily any more until next year.
livingmercy Mar 23rd 2011 9:32AM
Thanks! Yeah, I did do the Love Is In The Air dailies when that was going on. I checked on the Faire as well, but didn't see that it had dailies. Did I miss something with that?

(And to Neyssa)
Ha! I will be honest. I definitely met some pretty nice people right away who never asked, just mailed me gold, etc. I felt awful for accepting it, and still keep a list of who I'm paying back as I go. :) I don't like to see beggars in trade chat, though. I try my hardest to work and earn my stuff. I am more grateful for the info that folks have shared with me along the way rather than the gold pieces. I like learning the lore and seeing new places, even if I'm chasing after an 85 friend who takes me around dungeons to help me with gear. ;) I go so excited to finally hit lvl 20, then 40, etc... It seemed like it would never happen, and now I'm headed toward my next mini-goal. Hope he learns to enjoy the small things!

It's cool to see so many friendly & good-natured folks stepping up to offer useful & helpful advice to a new player.
livingmercy Mar 23rd 2011 10:41AM
I agree.... ;)
But now you get to see what it would be like in a guild with me. hahaha.. I am the question asker.

There technically is one other daily you could do at your level. It's a little out of the way (in The Cape of Stranglethorn), but there's an interesting twist to it:
http://www.wowhead.com/quest=26452
It's technically a PvE quest, because you are asked to kill an NPC, BUT it will send you into the Gurubashi Arena to do so, which flags people for PvA -- this means Player Vs. All. So, while you're in the Arena killing your NPC, other players, both Alliance and Horde, could theoretically attack and kill you.
Depending on how much you like PvP, or at least how much you might enjoy a few nervous seconds of looking over your shoulder while you kill a mob, you might enjoy doing this daily at least once or twice. :)
Happy hunting!

My dailies routine is: Check the JC daily in Stormwind. If it requires me to go prospecting, don't take it. If it requires me to sprinkle NPCs with fairy dust, take it, finish it in 15 seconds.
Anything else gets skipped.
The True Gamer Mar 23rd 2011 8:20AM
I do all the Tol Barad dailes just for the guild xp daily. And the fishing and cooking hoping to max the skills some day.
Noyou Mar 23rd 2011 1:06PM
Excellent point. Good guildies would be doing at least a couple dailies (or any quests) to put some guild XP in the vault so to speak. Unless your guild is maxed out. I am in a relatively tiny guild filled with lots of alts so I try to do the SW cooking and fishing dailies on all my toons. Lately I have been dragging my lvl 75 warrior to dal to get the cooking and fishing dailies and hitting the Kalu'ak ones as well. Also my 66 shaman goes to Dal for the JC daily. Be real nice if there was still at least a portal to outland. Oh that reminds me, my warrior then tracks his ass back to SW so he can take the portal to the dark portal and fly to shatt for the fishing daily there. As you can see thats a lot of ass tracking. Thanks Blizz.

I do twilight highlands dailies and TB dailies, to supplement my guild rep from raiding. Deepholm only gives like 23 or so rep, while TB and TwiHi give 45. I'd be exalted a while ago if I didt have to switch guilds (stupid alliance luring away the GL and 2 top officers with promises of Grand Marshal....)
