The Queue: Cats dot jpg

We bought the cats a new bed because the old one was getting a little worn out. As usual, they quickly accommodated to its roomy and soft bedding. Sophie likes being a pillow, it seems.
omnibishop asked:
Do you think Blizzard might ever implement a dual class system? Not like FFXI in which you have two classes at the same time, but a system where you can change between two different classes available for your particular race.
Probably not. Blizzard wants the decisions you make in World of Warcraft to matter, which is one of the reasons the talent system was pared down. Your class is one of the most important decisions you make for that particular character, so being able to change it on the fly is not something I would expect to happen. However, I would love a paid class swap feature, like the race change, so that I could swap two of my character's classes ...
Iirdan asked:
Blizzard has been relatively silent about the expansion of archaeology in 4.1 - any word other than the datamined items?
Looks like as of right now, the datamined items are what we're getting. Blizzard doesn't like to talk about things until it has a full grasp on them or is ready to make some announcement. The company's perfectly happy, in this case, to let the datamining speak for itself. Blizzard already said that it wants to expand on archaeology and even said the vrykul, fossils, and trolls needed new items.
potatoboy asked:
What do you think the likelihood of new Silithid content? All the old areas seem unaffected by the Cataclysm, and out of place.
I am very much hoping for more silithid/aqir/qiraji content, because I love me some qiraji. Rossi and I talked about this to some extent on the podcast yesterday as well, so give it a listen! I think the silithid/qiraji well is one that Blizzard hasn't really dipped into in a good, long time. I will be excited when it happens, and I pray every night for a War of the Aqir CoT raid.
blueboxjared asked:
question for the queue; do we know when the new mount will go on sale in the blizzard store?
We don't actually have a time frame other than "soon"; however, I wouldn't expect the wait to be too long. I am guessing maybe two to three weeks. I really like the new winged lion mount and would love if Blizzard would release its name. Perhaps something Uldum-y? It seems like a cross between a sphinx and a lion pegasus.
SirSquirrels asked:
What's the most compelling reason for someone who quit the game to come back for Cataclysm?
Cataclysm has completely changed the 1 to 60 game, made level 85 raiding extremely accessible -- and if you liked WoW once, you're going to like WoW 2 even more. The quests are fun, the polish is top-notch, and everything plays out really nicely. There are some complaints, sure, but I personally think WoW is aging very nicely, and old players deserve to give Azeroth another look just to see how cool most of the revamp is.
@magmaw asked:
Why must humanity oppose so violently an arthropod en flambé?
Magmaw, buddy, if you didn't have purples to take, we wouldn't want to hurt you. You're my favorite, though. Keep on flailin' them little Magmaw feets.
Bottleguy asked:
What happened to Arthas's sister?
We have no idea. It is an unresolved plot point that will most likely come up when it is useful for the story.
pacificitrim asked:
If Trolls have such amazing regenerative powers then why didn't Zul'jin's hacked-off arm grow back?

Back in Vanilla there was a quest to uncover some ancient Gurubashi tablets in STV; one of which mentioned a troll whose arm was cut off and could not regenerate. It seems that Trollish regeneration stops short of growing back whole limbs.

I forgot to add: OMG KITTIES!!!1one. They look soft and fuzzy.
And now, a question: so far we've heard of several raids coming in the future - Firelands and War of the Ancients, almost certainly an Azshara raid, and some that are more speculative such as Magatha Grimtotem, Zandalar, and N'zoth (the Old God pulling Deathwing's strings). Plus Deathwing himself of course.
The question is - what raids apart from these have been hinted at/might possibly appear? Are there any particular raids suggested by Cataclysm that you'd particularly like to see?
Knob Mar 23rd 2011 11:08AM
Clearly they need to sacrifice their starfish loa god to gain that power.
Bulbasaur Mar 23rd 2011 11:24AM
Where did you get N'zoth is pulling Deathwings' strings? Anyone is pulling Deathwings strings? Isn't he so damned crazy, nobody can manipulate him nomore?
fallemwarrior Mar 23rd 2011 11:27AM
He used the wrong mojo

is what he needed

It was (IIRC) from last Blizzcon, where Metzen said something like "You haven't seen who's pulling Deathwing's strings yet". N'zoth was mentioned (that may not be the actual spelling). Plus given how much Old God activity we've had in Cata, and how popular Ulduar was, I would be *very* surprised if we *didn't* have an Old God raid in Cata - my money is on it being the second raid in 4.3 or whatever, alongside the Deathwing raid.

Deathwings strings are definately being pulled (SPOILER!) in the War of the Ancients books we see voices wispering into Nethalion's head even back then, seeming the very reason he went insane and created the Deamon Soul. The same (or other) voices could still be wispering to him, still driving his insanity. Typically such wispering is in the realm of Old Gods, but who really knows.

My understanding of Zul'jin's story is that after he was captured and tortured, the elves used a special poison that suppressed his regenerative abilities, and when the time came, ha hacked off his arm with a poisoned elven blade to escape, and his wounds sealed up from the poison. Canonically, trolls can regenerate back to perfect physical condition from anything that does not kill them, including regrowing severed limbs or ruptured organs in a matter of days. Also their great dexterity and physical strength means that an army of them can only be beaten with overwhelming numbers (something the player-races have been unable to field until recent years), or with overwhelming magical prowess. The only major losses the trolls have ever suffered were against the Aquir, whom they eventually beat, who had numbers to spare, and the elves and humans, who had magic.
All of the above is why a united Zalandi empire in 4.1 is such a danger, because all the trolls united would outnumber any single alliance or horde faction by half at least, and now they have access to arcane and fel magic on par with the elves, shadow powers likely greater than any other race, strong shamans and druids, the power to channel Gods into their warriors, and a racial affinity to the ways of the hunter and rogue. Immagine an army of highly disciplined, highly organized, wellarmed, magically enhanced, natural-born-killers who refuse to die from all but the most deadly of attacks on an individial basis. THAT is what we are facing in 4.1.
These are what we would be facing: Zalandi, Amani, Gurubashi, Hakkari, Atal'ai, Mossflayer, Vilebranch, Shattertusk, Bloodscalp, Shatterspear, Whitherbark, Sand, Shadow, Drakkari, would-have-been Darkspear too. All of those are fully-sustained troll tribes, and we would have to fight all of them if they are united.

While we're tinfoil-hatting a bit here, it seems appropriate to mention my latest TFH theory: the linguistic similarity between "Zandalar" and "Shen'dralar". Since elves and trolls have been theorized to have some sort of common ancestry, I wonder if this was where they split.
Maybe I should have saved this for Know Your Lore. Whatever. It's been bugging me.

@mibu
Thanks for all that info, sir. I learned something new and I luv to learn more about lore
Bulbasaur Mar 23rd 2011 1:41PM
I don't think the old gods are behind Deathwing's actual actions. They just want to break free and bring havok, but Deathwing wants to destroy the world and take all the power he can. In a near future, both would be competition.
method_man1449 Mar 23rd 2011 2:51PM
@mibu.work1 the Shatterspear like the Revantusk before them joined the horde after the cataclysm. the Darkspear are slowly trying to win over other less powerful and more moderate troll factions by there successes with the horde...
Larka Mar 23rd 2011 6:16PM
@ bulb - it was the old gods in the first place that made him as crazy as he is. So it's not to surprising that one or more might be pulling a string...or two...or 1000
Rankin Mar 23rd 2011 8:26PM
It's also referenced in a troll joke:
"I heard if you cut off an extremity it'll regenerate a little bigger. Don't believe it."
Mitawa Mar 24th 2011 12:30AM
I like to think that elves and trolls are both some sort of heavily evolved, bipedal amphibians. (Yes, amphibians. Mammals only come in shades of White, black, yellow, and red. Amphibians explains their crazy coloration.)
At some point way back this proto-long-eared-bipedal-amphibian species decided to split into herbivores and carnivores, and this is where the rivalry began.
Really, the elf/troll thing is like the modern American West with both Texans and hippies living together.
Suzaku Mar 24th 2011 8:53PM
@mibu: Sounds like quite a bit of fanon, at least, I don't remember reading anything official regarding poisons or anything.
In the comic, it was outright stated that trolls can't regenerate hacked off limbs.

Huzzah! You put up the kittypic! Score! So cute!
Question for the Queue: What is the best course of action if one of your friends (who may or may not have girl hair) starts socking their poop back and forth?
Billlop Mar 23rd 2011 11:14AM
You mean they actually put their poop in a sock and throw it to other people, back and forth? Honestly, i think the best course of action would be to put on a white coat and bundle them into a van.
Fletcher Mar 23rd 2011 11:16AM
The kitties are indeed so cute.
However, I'm unsure what "socking" means in this context ... and I think I really, really want to remain blissfully ignorant. D:
