If that's what she meant, then you are right. She didn't convey her message properly. If she doesn't buy into the story she could just say it. That'd be totally okay too. But as none of us were there we really don't have any proof to say VT wasn't telling the truth. "Beyond a reasonable doubt." Can hardly say that with the evidence given we've moved past that point.
