The Daily Quest: Making improvements

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
I have to admit, I do find the new Orgrimmar a vast improvement over the old. Sometimes I miss the days of endlessly circling the Orgrimmar bank roof while waiting for one thing or another, but the new sections, the multiple banks and auction houses, and the upgrade to the architecture in general makes up for the bank roof circles. Besides -- the demolition of Orgrimmar? Far more entertaining to watch than most prime time television.
Today, we've got a smattering of posts from around the blogosphere regarding improvements of one kind or another.

While we are on the topic of making improvements in guilds....
You might be interested in this post(http://wp.me/p13KkL-7T) that I wrote regarding screening applicants. It's backed by psychological principles.

From an in-world perspective, it's highly unlikely that raid bosses wouldn't have minions to protect them. Trash.
From a mechanics perspective, I'm probably not the first to admit that wiping on a boss for two hours and having to fight through all the trash before again is annoying. HOWEVER, I'd rather get the teamwork feeling in early, by working together on trash and getting an idea if the group is capable of working alongside one another, instead of running up to the first boss and dying repeatedly because nobody is following instructions.

Speaking of improvements, I really need to make some for myself. I did my first raid as a Boomkin after a few years of being kitty melee DPS. Was... fun?

Enjoy!

So instead of sleeping, I browsed random websites for a while and came back here right before sleeping, and I have to say I love the design and concept behind all current trash mobs in game (except the dogs in BWD).
You can half-ass them, but can't go AFK or they trash you/the raid. This is kind of neat, although it means I don't zone in until I'm done calculating DKP/Browsing TvTropes/Finishing making flasks for the unprepared raiders/goofing off or what have you. The real reason I love them is the 2 hour respawn timer.
If you can't down the boss in two hours- when the trash respawns- it's probably best to take a breather, and trash mobs are the perfect answer to that.

I was wondering if Blizzard will ever give us a faster way to get from place to place. For instance, if I want to do Magisters' Terrace, I have spend 15-20 minutes flying there on a taxi. I'm retired so it's just a nuisance but to people who have to work and take care of families this is a lot time that is completely wasted. I would be nice for LvL 85's to have some kind of transportation system to take us to places that are a really long ways away. I do a lot of dungeon soloing of older content and I really have better things to do with my time than ride taxi's.
Thanks for your time!

Is there no Isle of Quel'Danas portal in Shattrath on your realm?
Zheet Mar 26th 2011 6:36AM
Just an FYI but if you goto the Ironforge flightpoint and then fly to the sunwell isle from there you'll get a loading screen as soon as the taxi gets out of IF that dumps you directly south of the sunwell isle (turns that 20 minute flight into a 2~ minute one!). Quite useful, and not really advertised unless you played during BC or randomly discovered it. Would be nice if they added something similar from Stormwind to the Isle.
There is also that port to the island in shattrath, but I find hopping the tram to IF then taking the taxi takes less time than hopping over to the dark portal>outlands>shatt.

We tried a dungeon and a raid with no trash in it (ToC). It didn't work so well. In fact I'd go so far to say that it's the worst raid of all three expansions since Vanilla ... there are a few BC raids I've not done, but I'm having trouble thinking of one I'd like to do less than ToC. Possibly Malygos.

Trash has been wonderful for our under geared raiding guild, especially Bastion of Twilight.
Of course if Blizzard nerfed the epic drop rate in there then it'd be a different story ...
But I guess for the more elite/progressed guilds it'd be a pain in the ass.

They did nerf the drop rate trust me...

The bank, the bank, the bank is on fire.

Great tips guys! Thanks so much. I'm Horde so the IF FP prob won't work for me, lol.
I'll check Shatt and see if the port to Quel'Danas is still there.
