I'm guessing you're a victim of ignorance, that stupid attitude that unless you're playing the "top" dps spec, you're doing it wrong. That may be a valid point if you're in the top 0.1% of all raiding guilds (and even then I don't agree with it), but for the rest of us, if the boss dies, if you beat the enrage timer, if you're pulling your own weight, whatever spec you choose to play should be perfectly fine.
It's kinda funny actually, in Wrath I absolutely (and still do) refused to play arcane, I hate the concept of pushing 2 buttons. I absolutely loved (and still do) fire. Sure, my dps was 1-2k lower than an arcane mage's, but I could easily be in the top 5 in a raid. Now the roles are reversed and I happen to be playing the "best" spec, but only because I prefer it to the other two.
