Breakfast Topic: Where's MY profession mount?

I am a leatherworker on my main, and I love my crafting. As my main is a hunter, I love to craft my own mail, emboss my bracers, and get awesome leg armor whenever I want it. But I feel like something is missing, something near and dear to my heart. I want my own crafting mount! Tailors get flying carpets. Engineers get a helicopter. Alchemists now get a dragon. Why is my poor leatherworker so unloved? Does she not slave away to make the nice armor for rogues, shaman, druids, and hunters? Should she not also get to flaunt her cool ride?
With that in mind, I decided to create fantasy rides for those poor unloved crafters without a ride of their own.
Leatherworkers
- Standard land mount Patchwork horse to ride through the world.
- Standard flying mount Hang glider made out of leather. Jump on and enjoy the view!
- Epic flying mount Ultra-light made from skin -- you know you want one.
- Standard land mount Rollerblades of speed -- zoom through The Barrens on your cool wheels.
- Standard flying mount Mjolnir's Hammer: Strap this baby on your wrist and away you soar.
- Epic flying mount Dual hammers, for that double pace through the sky.
- Standard land mount Crystal ball -- think hamster wheel/ball, all shiny and glittery.
- Standard flying mount Winged shoes; you follow in Hermes' path.
- Epic flying mount The matching helmet to your shoes; increases your speed.
- Standard land mount Seven League Boots -- walk like the giants.
- Standard flying mount Wings of fire; enchant your shirt to let you fly with fiery wings.
- Epic flying mount Wings of air; enchant your shirt to let you fly with hurricane wind.

I agree, we need more mounts, class specific + profession specific might a bit too much to ask, but you know dreaming costs nothing. Also I would love and enchanting mount, a pair of wings similar to the dark phoenix's maybe? THAT would be awesome.

Agreed about class-specific mounts; that seems like a much better idea than profession-specific mounts. I'd also say that a lot of these seem like they're out of place as mounts. Riding a flying hammer like Thor sounds good, but not as a "standard" mount anyone can use all the time. It's the epic thing - it should be special. Make it a quest thing like that awesome proto-drake quest to meet with Thorim for the first time or something. Same for seven-league boots - that would be a great "must-see" quest, but as a mount it would just look weird. And I'd have a different problem with a patchwork horse; it seems like just reaching to include something, anything, to fill the "LW ground mount" slot.
Maybe 10 expansions on when they've added two more classes and five more races and a 300 mount achievement is the challenge to shoot for, I'd be happy to see all of these. For now, though, I think we have plenty of mount choices in quadripeds, classic winged fantasy beasts, and just a little steampunk in our mount choices.

Seconded for class mounts. It makes sense. There could be an obligatory quest to get it. Nothing really epic just something fun. I would say a "go here go there quest". When running guildies around I am disappointed they don't go around and learn the various Flightpaths (even guildies who have many alts) so they can get around better. From a lore aspect I think of a class as an order or fraternity. You are representing a dedicated part of society- the least they can do is give you some basic transpo. Mages get ports so I wouldn't feel bad if they were excluded. (before you QQ I have an 85 mage- i love him so hush) Hunters should have a couple different choices but in essence should be able to tame their mount. It should be a one time thing. You would get a token for your trainer. once you tame it and mount it, it would then be consumed. It would be nice for all crafting professions to get something to craft as well. LW would make reigns or a bridal so they could use that on any number of things. It wouldn't have to be a hang-glider made out of human skin! Scribes make scrolls so they could get some kind of elemental/conjured thing as their mount. Enchanters would use their magics to enchant a beast or animate an inanimate object (flying broom perhaps? Those are fun!) So yeah when we put our minds to it we can come up with some pretty great things. Keep it going :)

Seven-League Boots are all well and good, in theory. The problem is, the standard humanoid pelvis is not built to accommodate strides of over twenty miles long.

So, a warrior class-specific mount would be ... what? a Holy Priest?

Jc's should get to ride one of those new Geode worms or something like that. The crystal ball is almost more of an alchemists style then a JC. As for scribes, only one solution, the Reading Rainbow Book. It would work like a magic carpet, only out of paper.

I'm an enchanter/tailor and i know that despite having a flying carpet from tailoring, i'm not into the whole Aladin thing very much unless i'm in ulduar for some reason. The very Idea of having a shirt enchant that could give you fire wings has got to be the best i've ever heard for that profession. I heard last night in a raid someone complaining about the magic lamp "pet" we get, and I agreed that the profession needed another perk other than the cheap enchants since now allot of them are going for a fraction of the cost of the mats. Also the flying hammer idea. I would make a macro just to yell a Thor quote every time I mounted up my DK alt and would probably waste more time just playing super hero around Stormwind than anything else.

Which profession do I have to learn to craft a land mount that's a litter borne by a bunch of murlocs?
Shoikler Mar 28th 2011 8:31AM
Azeroth's oldest, which ironically enough, won't be added in-game until the eighth expansion, "WoW After Dark."
MattKrotzer Mar 28th 2011 9:15AM
WoW After Dark will reportedly feature the long overdue upgrades of Goldshire.
Pocky Mar 28th 2011 10:28AM
Wouldn't WoW 'After Dark' feature a flying toaster mount?
MattKrotzer Mar 28th 2011 10:58AM
@Pocky: I see what you did there. Well played.

Man Flying Toasters, that brought me back... You guys are really showing your age!
Roy Mar 29th 2011 12:10PM

Your ideas are crazy in an awesome way
Szass Mar 28th 2011 8:55AM
No!
The idea's are awesome in a crazy way.

I always thought that an Epic Guild multiple player transport would be awesome. Imagine a guild version of Agron's Hammer you could use from any Zepplin tower at any time. Then again I always thought that a cool rated battle ground would be a loot ship battle ground...take out your opponents ship before they take out yours by using the guns, jumping across to kill opponents mages that freeze the guns and portect your mage from the other team when they jump across.

Personally I've always secretly been hoping for a 25 passenger Magic Schoolbus flying mount that plays the theme song while you drive, so I can give my entire raid a lift in style.
Fletcher Mar 28th 2011 8:32AM
I've always wanted a moonkin mount for my gnome.
And the Horde really ought to have bat flying mounts, in Forsaken and Troll flavours.
MattKrotzer Mar 28th 2011 9:15AM
It always bothered me that my gnome couldn't have one of those big exo-skeleton suits like Thermaplugg or the boss in... Steamvaults?
