The Queue: Where a kid can be a kid

In today's edition of The Queue we discuss Titan, Bolvar as the Lich King, how mages are cheaters, and more.
Sturmovic asked:
Will WoW Insider cover Titan as well as WoW when it comes out?
It's way too early to think about how we'll be covering Titan in the network. It's at least a couple of years until we see that game on the market, if not many more. However, we probably won't be covering Titan here on WoW Insider. Could it happen? Sure -- but it's much more likely Massively or Joystiq Prime will be covering it.
Really though, absolutely anything could happen in a few years. Maybe we'll get bought out by Chuck E. Cheese in 2013 and we'll be covering the latest ball pit technology by the time Titan is released.
Mal asked:
Is WoW Rookie ever going to cover macros and keybinds?
It might! When you have ideas like this of things you'd like us to cover, I strongly recommend using our Contact Us link in the upper right of the site. We really do read every email that we receive, so it's an excellent way to suggest topics like that.
Do note, however, that reading an email does not necessarily mean we will do whatever is asked of us. If a reader submits a pet petition and wants us to give it coverage, that probably won't happen, but things like, "Can you cover macros in WoW Rookie/Arcane Brilliance/Whatever" are things we'll certainly make notes of for later on.
In the meantime, maybe using some of our recent class columns as a basic resource would be useful to you. For new players, we have an article on basic keyboard shortcuts. We recently ran a two-part series on PvP keybindings, and our retribution and enhancement columns both covered macros very recently, and we've covered class-specific macros in the past.
Will asked:
What is Bolvar Fordragon doing up in Northrend now that he is the Lich King? The Lich King as a character is really interesting to me and I don't want its story-line being cut off completely.
Bolvar Fordragon is keeping the Scourge in check. Keeping such a massive number of thralls under your control almost certainly takes a lot of mental fortitude, not to mention he's warring with whatever pieces of the previous Lich King that still exist within the crown Tirion placed upon his head. He has his work cut out for him. Considering the Scourge is being successfully pushed out of the Plaguelands, it seems Bolvar is doing a rather good job. He's directly battling against that which should be his nature as the Lich King. Time will tell whether he's successful or not.
fillechaude asked:
Why is it that mana gems don't disappear after logging out for 15 minutes? What makes them different from other conjured items?
Mages cheat, but they aren't good enough at cheating to preserve their cake.
Smurrf asked:
Isn't it about time for another Two Bosses Enter series?
We restarted it just last week. Ozruk vs. Asaad was the very first matchup of the season. The second matchup of the season was published earlier today.

Has Blizzard ever held any sort of item-creating contest before?
The Angry Intern Mar 28th 2011 2:21PM
They're probably too afraid of what kind of entries they will get. The people checking the submissions probably would only be able to take so many items shaped like penises before they crawl into the corner crying.
wutsconflag Mar 28th 2011 2:26PM
@The Angry Intern:
For reference, please see "Serpent Flesh" before Blizzard changed the icon. (I think that was the one, anyway.)

Has always looked like a penis on a stick to me.
There are several icons which look odd. Serpent Flesh was one of them. There's another, I can't think of the name right now. They changed one of the early meats from Wrath of the Lich King to be "less disgusting", but I didn't notice much of a change.

Question for the queue:
Why does it make sense that the looking for group channel is only available in cities? Wouldn't people want to look for raids while they are questing or farming? Maybe if the channel was available outside cities, it would actually get used, instead of trade being used to look for groups.
Bapo Mar 28th 2011 11:12AM
I don't think Blizz wants there to be a massive server wide channel though. I've heard before they did the general chat, and that was a mess. Trade would just absorb the /lfg as well. /LFR is probably the closest we will get, it's just sad though that a ton of people don't use it : /
Andostre Mar 28th 2011 11:17AM
I like the thought, but the inane chatter spam would still continue, and then the only reprieve a player could get from it would be to just leave the channel. At least those players who still find it annoying but useful can use it if they're in the cities, and get a break from it when they leave the cities.
Of course, those same players could just /leave and /join the channel when they want, but I imagine that many players will /leave if they channel is everywhere and never look at it again.
Also, there could be some system resource reason why certain channels are only limited to cities.

There WAS a global LFG channel for a little while back in the day. Just think Trade Chat.
Trade Chat EVERYWHERE.
Amaxe Mar 28th 2011 12:24PM
I remember the global chat. Back then, I would use it to do business while flying between places on a Gryphon. We would do a lot of "Mail it to me COD" (mail was instantaneous back then). It was something to do when it could take 7-10 minutes the way the Gryphons took such roundabout flights back then.
I don't really remember it being too annoying at the time, but I was new to the game (I think it was over a year before Trade got to be so annoying that I turned it off) and perhaps I was playing when all the annoying people were in school.
Sir Broose Mar 28th 2011 12:29PM
Although Trade is OFTEN abused, I wouldn't say that it is never used for trade or is useless. An awful lot of trade still goes on there, despite the annoying interruptions and off-topic conversations. Those wanting to find a JC or offer their LW services or trade some Darkmoon cards or sell a pair of JP vendor boots 1000k below AH...are still doing their thing, and it still works for those transactions. I utilize it regularly. I don't think we can get rid of it, unless something replaces it.
Grovinofdarkhour Mar 28th 2011 1:05PM
Personally, one global chat channel (Guild) is plenty. I would have no use for:
You have discovered [Nice Quiet Corner of Feralas!]
/join lookingforgroup
[Ipwnallnubslawlzz]: if u don liek my ah pricez go fuk yer mom
/leave lookingforgroup
/weep for humanity
loop_not_defined Mar 28th 2011 3:34PM
Getting rid of Trade Chat would just move all the crap into another previously-pristine channel. It would accomplish nothing.
Personally, I think Blizzard should make a server-wide channel called [X. Spam] that starts off disabled. Done and done.
(I'd still join it...reporting anal linkage spammers is too fun)

Lemme just fix every post here:
There was once a global LFG channel.
And it was glorious.

Q for the Q
didnt DKs used to be other classes like mages , shaman...ect before they die?
if so why they go the melee path only?
MattKrotzer Mar 28th 2011 11:13AM
Because after being resurrected, they are trained in the use of their new abilities. (See DK starting area.)
Namy Mar 28th 2011 11:15AM
I think that most of the death knights are risen paladins?
Bapo Mar 28th 2011 11:15AM
Mind Control
mazca13 Mar 28th 2011 11:24AM
I'm sure they considered another hero class - some kind of caster equivalent of a Death Knight that would suit all those reanimated mages and shamans - but I suspect it becomes hard to give it unique abilities that don't impinge on either the death knight or the warlock.
Andre Mar 28th 2011 11:34AM
@mazca13
I'd reread the question.
mazca13 Mar 28th 2011 11:41AM
@Andre - I have, and I'm not sure what you think I'm misinterpreting. I provided what I thought was a perfectly valid game-mechanics reason why all these scourged people, presumably of various classes, are choosing to be plate-wearing melee characters.
