Two Bosses Enter: Lord Godfrey vs. Scourgelord Tyrannus!

Welcome to week two of this season of Two Bosses Enter! This week we reveal the first of four wild card competitors -- when it comes to the wild cards, anything goes. We broke the Cataclysm boss mold to bring back old favorites ... or something else entirely!
Lord Godfrey will be put up against wild card numero uno, Scourgelord Tyrannus, winner of Wrath of the Lich King's Trial of the Crusader/Frozen Halls season of Two Bosses Enter. Can Tyrannus capitalize on this comeback? Can he go toe-to-toe with the bosses of Cataclysm? Does he still have what it takes to compete?

Follow along for the details of this matchup, as well as discussion on our landslide winner from last week's matchup.
The rules of the ring
- The WoW Insider Ring is considered neutral territory, where both combatants are able to access their usual encounter mechanics and abilities. If you can't visualize it inside the squared circle, visualize it someplace else -- but you must take into consideration all of each bosses' abilities and mechanics.
- Assume that each opponent is intelligent and capable of strategic thinking.
- All of the competitors' abilities, including crowd control and other effects to which bosses are usually immune, work on their opponents (with apologies to considerations of lore on this point).
- Assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools, and comparative overall damage output.
- Don't get caught up in gameplay mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter.
- Don't neglect style, story, and scale. Everything is a factor; seeking balance is your goal as a spectator and judge.

Murder never gets old.
How many men can claim they've killed the Banshee Queen? Not Sylvanas the mortal ranger, but the Banshee Queen, the undead monarch of the Forsaken, one of the most powerful beings across both the Alliance and the Horde? Just one man managed to do what the Lich King could not: Lord Vincent Godfrey. With Sylvanas sitting at the top of his kill list, can Scourgelord Tyrannus truly prove to be a threat? Besides, he dual wields pistols. How cool is that?
Godfrey's bag of murderous tricks includes ... If you've never been unfortunate enough to cross Lord Godfrey, you may want to learn about his background or read adventurers' first-hand accounts of his murderocity. It's a word. Look it up.
I lied. It's not a word.

You are better off dead!
Scourgelord Tyrannus's death in the Pit of Saron was merely a setback. His sweep of the previous season of Two Bosses Enter proves that he was one tough cookie with some serious staying power. Keep in mind that both the Faction Champions and the Lich King himself participated in that tournament -- it was not easy competition. Can Tyrannus and his pet dragon defeat that which Sylvanas could not?
Scourgelord Tyrannus is packing some serious heat ... And that's not all! His pet frost wyrm Rimefang is a stone cold killer, too ... If you were the cowardly sort in Wrath of the Lich King and stayed in the mountains, far away from Tyrannus, you might want to learn more about him and his style of combat.

Ozruk beat Asaad so brutally last week that the djinn's entire family line has been shamed for all time, hither and thither throughout the continuum. Ozruk took just about 80% of the vote, which is likely as close to a flawless victory as we'll see throughout this tournament.

Our first comment last week summed up the matchup quite well for most of our readers. Natsumi said ...
Obviously Ozruk wins, everyone knows that Ground Types are Immune to Electric types. However, Hal saw things quite differently ...
Ugh, you people and your pokeymans. Dag-gum kids.No matter which way you look at it, Ozruk comes out on top. Readers are already predicting a clean sweep for Ozruk in this season of Two Bosses Enter, but it may be too early to make that call. Could Tyrannus weather Ozruk's body should he advance to the next round? Could Godfrey?
In a more traditional elemental arrangement: Water > Fire > Earth > Wind > Water
Earth vs. Wind ... Earth wins.
The battle begins!
Remember, Two Bosses Enter matchups are all about substance and style, not gameplay, mechanics, and numbers. Don't base your strategies on player tactics, which opponent has been easiest or most difficult for you personally, or the difficulty of each opponent relative to instance progression. Vote for the spirit of the battle as set forth above. Set aside differences in opponents' health pools, game level, and actual damage output. Absolutely no game mechanics nitpicking!
Oh, and by the way? Bonus points to anybody who fills out their season predictions in our ladder.

Frankly i don't care who wins. The winner is going to break his bones against the body of Ozruk and feel the strength of the earth.
I voted for Tyrannus because him against Ozruk is going to be more intresting than:
Godfrey: Take this CURSED BULLETS.
Ozruk: Reflect
Godfrey: Oh fuu.. "Headshots himself"
I wouldn't put all my money on Tyrannus through.
Stephen Mar 28th 2011 10:42AM
Rimefang, destroy this fool!
InfiniteAbyss Mar 28th 2011 10:47AM
Its not much of a contest imo. Overlords brand reflects all the damage Godfrey does to Tyrannus. That and Tyrannus' own damage just destroys Godfrey.
And adds? A few weak ghouls dont really stand a chance against rimefang and her AoE.
I expect the reason for Tyrannus' last championship win is Overlords Brand. And i expect it to take him to the end again.
Joe Mar 28th 2011 10:45AM
Tyrannus FTW. DK's are the best.
Bart Mar 28th 2011 10:46AM
SLT has an undead dragon, 'nuff said.
eMaRDi Mar 28th 2011 10:49AM
By numbers, Lord Godfrey wins (just look at those numbers of Tyrannus abilities. ;) ).
Godfrey has his ghouls. Those are no great issue for three DDs in a team, but they would be for one guy.
Tyrannus can only redirect damage (so he could strike to ghouls and redirect this damage to Godfrey)
Healing is obsolete, as Godfrey doesn't heal himself and so Tyrranus cannot gain profit from that.
Given that Rimefang cannot kill all those ghouls (who will likely not avoid this damage), it would be a close fight.
RPGwise Godfrey will keep himself in motion, stay at range of Tyrannus, curse him and cast his Bullets at range. While he is at range, Tyrannus is not that efficient and will be occupied by Godfreys ghouls.
If Tyrannus doesn't move, Rimefang has a chance to blast the ghouls or Godfrey, else Rimefang will miss both.
So in summary as Godfrey will turn this into a movement fight, Tyrannus will lose (as quite strict melee).
With his Brand on ghouls all the time, he might get some damage to Godfrey, but has he always has only one target to be reflected, he would quickly be overwhelmed by ghouls.
Additionally this ugly curse of Godfrey would amplify the barrel damage, dealing more damage (together with the ghouls) than Rimefang and Tyrannus may dish out.
Mike Mar 28th 2011 4:37PM
I think you mean IF Godfrey turns this into a movement fight. He doesn't have much in the way of instants, and Tyrannus is pretty adept at slowing people down, ESPECIALLY when Rimefang only has one person to target. Add that too the already-mentioned-to-death Overlord's Brand, and we have a Gilnean Lord who suddenly finds himself double-dead.
Henry Mar 28th 2011 11:14AM
This one is a tough one, but I've got to give it to the Tyrannus.
Rimefang is the real reason that the he'll win. For one, the AOE damage from the the Hoarfrost and Icy Blast will rip the ghouls apart.
Godfrey will use the Forceful Blow to position an ice patch between himself and Tyrannus, allowing him to rip Tyrannus apart with his two pistols. Rimefang responds quickly by stunning Godfrey long enough for Tyrannus to catch back up to him. Strengthened by Unholy Power, Tyrannus rips Godfrey apart as he tries to run away. The combined effect of the Forceful Smashes and the Overlord's Brand rips Godfrey apart while his Cursed Bullets fail to make up the difference as Pistol Barrage is easily avoided.
squig_masta Mar 28th 2011 11:19AM
So if I understand you correctly, you think Tyrannus will rip Godfrey apart?
Henry Mar 28th 2011 11:21AM
I did say that twice, didn't I.
Dang.
squig_masta Mar 28th 2011 11:17AM
Godfrey's plan of attack:
1. Summon ghouls, fire a cursed bullet or two, wait for forceful smash.
2. Unload a pistol barrage on his slow moving plated keister.
3. ????
4. Loot
Infact aside from Hoarfrost, Godfrey can negate, if not out right counter all of the scourgelord's abilities. Icy Blast? Get out of the blue glyph and kite the scourgelord around, firing mercilessly. Think Overlord's Band is going to save your preciouse scourgelord? He's just as likely to throw it on the ghouls as he is godfrey, and while the swarm of ghouls as a whole can do a decent amount of damage, a single ghoul can not.
Tyrannus might have brute strength on his side, but Godfrey is crafty and knows how to take advantage of an enemy's weakness.
InfiniteAbyss Mar 31st 2011 12:16AM
U realize that ur applying a player strategy to godfrey while assuming tyrannus is using his default boss mechanics right? If godfrey can kite tyrannus than tyrannus can surely be smart enough to apply overlords brand to him rather than the ghouls.
Be consistent.
Andre Mar 28th 2011 11:45AM
It's at 50.5% Godfrey and 49.5% SLT. This'll be a close one.
Martin Mar 28th 2011 12:12PM
Cursed bullets would do Tyrannus in. Just like it's done in many a group I've been in without a decurser.
Adam Mar 28th 2011 12:34PM
Look, stack up the abilities against each other and Tyrannus is clearly the winner. Each boss has two abilities that will probably not be countered: Cursed Bullets and Mortal Wound for Godfrey, and Forceful Smash and Unholy Power for Tyrannus. Assuming that damage is balanced between the two, let's say that those abilities cancel each other out.
Now Godfrey has his ghouls and Pistol Barrage, and Tyrannus has Overlord's Brand and the Rimefang abilities. Everything that Rimefang does is aoe, so assuming that he hits reasonably hard, the ghouls are toast.
It's down to Pistol Barrage vs. Overlord's Brand. Godfrey channels Pistol Barrage, Tyrannus uses Overlord's brand on Godfrey. Godfrey takes a ton of damage, even if he cancels the cast early. Godfrey can't get Tyrannus with the Pistol barrage, so Tyrannus wins.
MattKrotzer Mar 28th 2011 12:37PM
Enough people read it, comment on it, and wanted it that they brought it back as a feature. I'm sure they didn't do it just for me and Cutaia.
Trx Mar 28th 2011 12:42PM
Not that tough to be honest, anyone who played DMC knows Dual Pistols plus a kitable boss equals death to boss (after about 5 hours) so as long as Godfrey doesn't run out of ammo (which he never does) I say, sorry Tyrannus, you lose.
Necromann Mar 28th 2011 12:59PM
Wow it is close 51% to 49%
Ironbuddah Mar 28th 2011 1:07PM
In my opinion Godfrey wins this one. He's more agile, smarter, and he'd eventually learn the secret to kiting Tyrannus. As said before in other comments, Hunter>Warrior, even with a pet drake that inherently gives him yet even more snares to deal with. Godfrey might luck out every once and awhile and a ghoul might cancel out Overlord's Brand's usefulness. (Hits the ghoul, ghoul doesn't hit that hard/dies early canceling the ability.) His drake would eventually die to Cursed Bullets(That is if Tyrannus doesn't die first.) and it's not like the big Frost Rune on the ground is hard to avoid. I've no doubt in my mind that Godfrey would avoid pretty much all of Rimefang's abilities. The Mortal Wound would eventually stack up to 100% cutting off his ability to heal as well.
Angus Mar 28th 2011 1:24PM
Okay. So where are the donuts? Godfrey stepped in the ring as some random Death Lnight also did. "FORDRING!!!!! WHERE ARE THE DAMN DONUTS?!?!!"
Champions begin!
Godfrey looked at his opponent. Hmmm obviously he has them.
My lord, donuts?! It's all we can afford for prizes. Besides, Sacco said it would work.
In the name of the Liche King!!!
He's dead.
What?!
Oh yea. Either 10 or 25, depending on who you ask, heroes showed up and killed him. He's gone.
What? What am I supposed to do, where am I suppose to go?
You seem kinda emo. Ever thought about being a Warlock? Here, we get you into some dark robes, get you some eyeliner and maybe listen to some Evenescense. You like this?
Yea, I actually kinda do.
BANG
THUD
Good, I hate emo undead.
NOW WHERE IS MY DAMN DONUT!?!?
