Two Bosses Enter: Lord Godfrey vs. Scourgelord Tyrannus!

Welcome to week two of this season of Two Bosses Enter! This week we reveal the first of four wild card competitors -- when it comes to the wild cards, anything goes. We broke the Cataclysm boss mold to bring back old favorites ... or something else entirely!
Lord Godfrey will be put up against wild card numero uno, Scourgelord Tyrannus, winner of Wrath of the Lich King's Trial of the Crusader/Frozen Halls season of Two Bosses Enter. Can Tyrannus capitalize on this comeback? Can he go toe-to-toe with the bosses of Cataclysm? Does he still have what it takes to compete?

Follow along for the details of this matchup, as well as discussion on our landslide winner from last week's matchup.
The rules of the ring
- The WoW Insider Ring is considered neutral territory, where both combatants are able to access their usual encounter mechanics and abilities. If you can't visualize it inside the squared circle, visualize it someplace else -- but you must take into consideration all of each bosses' abilities and mechanics.
- Assume that each opponent is intelligent and capable of strategic thinking.
- All of the competitors' abilities, including crowd control and other effects to which bosses are usually immune, work on their opponents (with apologies to considerations of lore on this point).
- Assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools, and comparative overall damage output.
- Don't get caught up in gameplay mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter.
- Don't neglect style, story, and scale. Everything is a factor; seeking balance is your goal as a spectator and judge.

Murder never gets old.
How many men can claim they've killed the Banshee Queen? Not Sylvanas the mortal ranger, but the Banshee Queen, the undead monarch of the Forsaken, one of the most powerful beings across both the Alliance and the Horde? Just one man managed to do what the Lich King could not: Lord Vincent Godfrey. With Sylvanas sitting at the top of his kill list, can Scourgelord Tyrannus truly prove to be a threat? Besides, he dual wields pistols. How cool is that?
Godfrey's bag of murderous tricks includes ... If you've never been unfortunate enough to cross Lord Godfrey, you may want to learn about his background or read adventurers' first-hand accounts of his murderocity. It's a word. Look it up.
I lied. It's not a word.

You are better off dead!
Scourgelord Tyrannus's death in the Pit of Saron was merely a setback. His sweep of the previous season of Two Bosses Enter proves that he was one tough cookie with some serious staying power. Keep in mind that both the Faction Champions and the Lich King himself participated in that tournament -- it was not easy competition. Can Tyrannus and his pet dragon defeat that which Sylvanas could not?
Scourgelord Tyrannus is packing some serious heat ... And that's not all! His pet frost wyrm Rimefang is a stone cold killer, too ... If you were the cowardly sort in Wrath of the Lich King and stayed in the mountains, far away from Tyrannus, you might want to learn more about him and his style of combat.

Ozruk beat Asaad so brutally last week that the djinn's entire family line has been shamed for all time, hither and thither throughout the continuum. Ozruk took just about 80% of the vote, which is likely as close to a flawless victory as we'll see throughout this tournament.

Our first comment last week summed up the matchup quite well for most of our readers. Natsumi said ...
Obviously Ozruk wins, everyone knows that Ground Types are Immune to Electric types. However, Hal saw things quite differently ...
Ugh, you people and your pokeymans. Dag-gum kids.No matter which way you look at it, Ozruk comes out on top. Readers are already predicting a clean sweep for Ozruk in this season of Two Bosses Enter, but it may be too early to make that call. Could Tyrannus weather Ozruk's body should he advance to the next round? Could Godfrey?
In a more traditional elemental arrangement: Water > Fire > Earth > Wind > Water
Earth vs. Wind ... Earth wins.
The battle begins!
Remember, Two Bosses Enter matchups are all about substance and style, not gameplay, mechanics, and numbers. Don't base your strategies on player tactics, which opponent has been easiest or most difficult for you personally, or the difficulty of each opponent relative to instance progression. Vote for the spirit of the battle as set forth above. Set aside differences in opponents' health pools, game level, and actual damage output. Absolutely no game mechanics nitpicking!
Oh, and by the way? Bonus points to anybody who fills out their season predictions in our ladder.

Tyrannus, by a landsl-(oh, wait, that was last week) er, boneslide? Point is, Tyrannus could put the pain on Godfrey like few others.
First, allow me to point out that Godfrey's primary claims to fame are in betrayal and backstabbery; he captures Greymane in a sneak attack, he kills Sylvanas in a sneak attack, the guy is practically a Rogue. A stand-up, head-to-head fight is not his forte. Unfortunately for him, a fight with Tyrannus is nothing BUT head-to-head. There are no odd mechanics or phases to the Tyrannus fight, he just hops off Rimefang and starts beating your face in.
Let's talk abilities, since that's where Tyrannus really shows how much he outclasses his opponent. Godfrey's most damaging attack is the DoT from Cursed Bullets, Tyrannus slaps him with Overlord's Brand and bam, all of that DoT damage is being reflected onto Godfrey; already his strongest weapon is working against him. Pistol Barrage is easily avoided. Godfrey summons his cannon fodder ghouls, Rimefang wastes them with Icy Blast and then traps Godfrey with Hoarfrost. With Godfrey unable to back away from Tyrannus, the Scourgelord pops Unholy Power ("Power...OVERWHELMING!!!") and crushes Godfrey into dust with Forceful Smash. Game, set, match.
Sorry Godfrey, you never stood a chance. Maybe you should've tried using Vanish and Smoke Bomb, or atleast stayed...IN THE MOUNTAINS!!!

Woah it is tight. About a 100 votes difference when over 5000 people have voted. Not to mention that we are only one day in and last week had over 10000. Anything could happen.

I have to give this to Godfrey because Pistol Barage has got to be one of the better anti-air abilities in the game. He could probably just blow Tyrannus out of the sky and crush hum beneath Rimefang's corpse. Even if Tyrannus survived that, Tyrannus is completely melee focused and Godfrey could just keep shooting at him from long range.

Such an amusing contest! Two fighters in a battle to the death to see who's the best?
As far as total losers go, Lord Godfrey is simply the worst. He may have his little pop-guns, but in the science of Saronite, he's sadly unversed.
An unbreakable, unshakable metal from the blood of Yogg-Saron, it's no surprise that it's the only thing the minions of the Lich King have on.
In the end, those little guns can't save Godfery from the impending fall, as his bulles bounce harmlessly off that walking Saronite wall.
Ohohohoho~!

In a fair fight Tyrannus would take the win. In an arena setting where there is less time to come up with a devious plan Godfrey won't be able to outlast the beating the Scourgelord can give. However, Lord Godfrey is quite a machiavellian strategist. He wouldn't play fair.
Lord Godfrey would use his ghouls to keep Tyrannus busy long enough to shoot Rimefang from the air. A few holes into the wings of the frost wyrm would tip the scales quite a bit, and after that Rimefang would be out of its element. It would be ended swiftly. By this time the Scourgelord would have dealt with the ghouls, so it would become a 1v1 battle.
In close combat Tyrannus would win hands down, but as said, Godfrey wouldn't fight fair. He would keep his distance and if forced close a Pistol Barrage would force Tyrannus to move away. Also, there's not many things that don't slow down when a bullet is put through their head.
This one is a close one, but I call it brains over brawn this time. Godfrey wins, but only just.
Jidan Mar 28th 2011 6:27PM
I don't get why people keeping claiming that Tyrannus would focus on
the ghouls. A simple "Rimefang, destroy these fools!" is all it would
take to blast the ghouls, and in response to pistol barrage killing
Rimefang, I assume Tyrannus is smart enough to interrupt that with
forceful smash (if he and his wyrm didn't avoid it outright), and with
luck send Godfrey into a frostpatch with his pets. Add this to
Overlord's Brand reflecting Cursed Bullets, Godfrey's competely wasted
mortal strike, and "Power Overwhelming," Tyrannus has it in the bag.
lady.silverdragon Mar 28th 2011 4:22PM
Lord Godfrey would win, were it not for Tyrannus's dragon. It essentially comes down to a two on one fight, with the dragon swooping in from behind. If Lord Godfrey focuses his attacks on one of them, the other will be hitting him unhindered. If he tries to attack both, he won't be able to get them down fast enough. And meanwhile, Tyrannus and the dragon will be blasting him down.
Reason Mar 28th 2011 5:29PM
I don't see how Godfrey has any potential to win this. Yes, he has a gun... but when Tyrannus puts a brand on him, he'll either end up blowing his own head off or be unable to act.
How do you win in that situation?
Apple Mar 28th 2011 5:51PM
If we assume the respective bosses' mechanics are intact, Godfrey's Cursed Bullets are a death sentence. Tyrannus has no healing abilities, so if Godfrey was acting intelligently he would assassinate the Scourgelord and the fight would be over in about ten seconds.
However, Tyrannus's Overlord's Brand has no cooldown, so he can keep it active on Godfrey at all times. So, as long as he stops once every seven seconds to keep Godfrey marked, he can eliminate Cursed Bullets and Pistol Barrage from the equation. Thus, Godfrey's best hope for survival is to get out of melee range and summon ghouls to kill Tyrannus.
The problem with the ghouls, however, is that they aren't under Godfrey's control once summoned, so even if he's acting intelligently he can't force them to scatter when Rimefang targets one with Icy Blast.
IF Tyrannus can escape the ice patches left behind from one of these assaults, recast the Brand, freeze Godfrey with Rimefang's inescapable Hoarfrost, run into melee range within the five available seconds, activate Unholy Power, and stab Godfrey in the face, he will win.
IF, however, he can't manage to get into melee range, the ghoul damage will probably outpace the Hoarfrost damage, and Godfrey will win.
I love the new SFK, but my vote is for the Scourgelord.
kingcomrade Mar 28th 2011 6:45PM
Gotta be Lord Godfrey. Tyrannus can't dispel curses. Lord Godfrey not only has an awesome name, he is the first boss in the whole game that I can think of who uses guns. Death knight armor is no match for magic gunpowder
Mystic69 Mar 28th 2011 7:49PM
For all those saying Tyrannus "would more than likely just put overlords brand on a ghoul" remember they are both intelligent! he can CHOOSE where to put it!
Purely for the abilities available to him, Tyrannus would win
cyanea85 Mar 28th 2011 8:04PM
I'm gonna give it to Godfrey. I think he would realize that he would have absolutely no chance in a toe-to-toe brawl with Tyrannus. He's proven that he's intelligent and capable of planning, so I can see him using the frost patches to keep Tyrannus kited and whittling down his health with the ghouls and pistol barrages and that Curse. (As a Paladin, FUCK that curse...). It would be a long fight, and it wouldn't be an entertaining one, but I think Godfrey would have the edge.
Devin Mar 28th 2011 10:29PM
I'm surprised Sindragosa isn't an option. You know Sylvannas isn't pulling him out of the way after Godfrey beats the Scourgelord.
deiji Mar 28th 2011 10:37PM
Godfrey may be smart, but he is no marksman. His dual pistol style and pistol barrage ability doesnt allow him for precision headshot. Tyrannus on the other hand has heavy counters against Godfrey: thickass saronite armor, and the Overlord Brand. Sure the fight might end with Rimefang dead killed by Godfrey, but Tyrannus would easily rip apart Godfrey's bones and cloth armor.

The..final showdown in fable 2.
Thats why i had to vote Godfrey.
For those who dont remember it or have yet to see it ill put how i see Godfrey vs the scourgelord going down without referanceing the other showdown too much.
I see this fight being hyped up so much that people who hear about it literally explode with anticipation, or the goblins do. maybe thats just goblins? anyway..there will be anticipation up the backside and when the hour finally arrives Godfrey will just have to sit and be patient.
The scourgelord will probably be taking his time showing off his mount to the spectators and generally badmouthing his opponent.
Rhymefang soars through the air, His/her tattered, decaying wings batter the air, each terrible wingbeat echoing menecingly into the arena below. S(he) opens his/her cavernous mouth, stirring the flaming blue gas inside her exposed ribcage and letting out a deafening roar as she descends sending great chunks of decayed flesh and ice hurtling to the ground. They crash into the floor and shatter into a haze of foul smelling, icy fog.
(S)he hovers just above the ground, His/her wings bloving the freezing fog towards Godfrey with the force of a hurricane. The scourgelord dismounts "You arent even fit to--"
A single gunshot penetrates the fog.
The scourgelord slumps to the floor, the wind whistling through a perfectly round hole in the middle of his helmet.
"Rhymefang-"
another earshattering gunshot finds its mark as Godfrey approaches, placing his boot onto the scorgelords chest he fires a third round into his victim before mumbling somthing unintelligable through his hood.
Rhymefang, having seen his/her rider defeated tries to charge Lord Godfrey, but with a snap of his fingers and the air of a man used to being waited upon he sends wave upon wave of ghouls to tear the creature to pieces.
Kilznah Mar 28th 2011 11:25PM
OMG two bosses both wearing the coolest armor sets around which to choose ... wait they are fighting? I thought they were competing for wow fashion weekly. I cannot bear to see such awesome outfits get ruined T.T
Kilznah Mar 28th 2011 11:28PM
P.S. If Tyrannus dies, I hope Godfrey will find it in his heart to take care of Rimefang
RetPallyJil Mar 29th 2011 12:08AM
Goin' with Tyrannus, because I can't bear to see a Forsaken win anything.
Skar Mar 29th 2011 3:03PM
There's no way Godfrey can kite Tyranus long enough to wear him down. Even if Godfrey did manage to get some range, one snare from Rimefang and Tyranus' axe is back up in his face.
Tyranus, The People's Champ, ftw.
zdudey Mar 30th 2011 6:14PM
Will we ever see a raid version of two bosses enter?
