Patch 4.0.6 hotfixes for March 29

There's another round of hotfixes on the way, according to a post released on the official WoW blog. Today's list is short and sweet and should please the people annoyed about exploits in Tol Barad.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has destroyed Azeroth as we know it; nothing is the same! In WoW Insider's Guide to Cataclysm, you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion, from leveling up a new goblin or worgen to breaking news and strategies on endgame play.

Dungeons & Raids
-
The Bastion of Twilight
- A bug has been fixed that could cause Flame Strike during the Ascendant Council encounter (Heroic difficulty) to target an existing fire patch, instead of creating a new one.

Am I reading that right? You are not allowed to summon group members while in a dungeon or a raid? That's kinda silly...
Zankoku Mar 29th 2011 11:27PM
If you look back at Blue posts, it is to prevent a stealth run to a boss, then summoning the group to the boss. if you step outside the dungeon/raid, then it will work (and more like its inteneded purpose, that is no need to use the summoning stone 23 times)

Apparantly someone reported they saw someone do this in a BG, as well.
Noyou Mar 30th 2011 12:13AM
It's freaking amazing how blizzard spends all the time and money on development that they do and miss something so obvious like that. Still looks like it will work inside opposite faction cities.

"when the battle is in progress"
Maybe you should read the whole sentence...

@Noyou
I am constantly surprised at the obvious abuses of mechanics that escape dev notice until things go live (often despite testers pointing them out). This is common in every MMO I have ever played, and has lead to a quite a few MMO's being still born (Hi WAR!).
Summoning people past trash/bosses was the first thing I thought of when I saw "Have group will travel" as it has always been done with standard summoning when possible (warlock with invis potion and some rogues).
IMO MMO developers need to hire more hard core EvE online players to point out completely obvious mechanic abuses (for those not in the know exploiting new mechanics in EvE online is a way of life for the top groups, it general just gets you a slap on the wrist because the game is that cut throat).

@Zweitblom
Ambiguous English sentence construction strikes again!
"The guild perk "Have Group, Will Travel" no longer allows players to summon guild mates inside dungeons, raids, Battlegrounds, or Tol Barad when the battle is in progress. It will also not function while the player is on any transport."
This can be parsed as either a):
"Have Group, Will travel no longer allows summons inside the following
* Dungeons
* Raids
* Battlegrounds
* Tol Barad when the battle is in progress."
or b)
"Have Group, Will travel no longer allows summons inside the following when the battle is in progress.
* Dungeons
* Raids
* Battlegrounds
* Tol Barad"
I originally parsed it as A and I would put money on that. Have Group, Will Travel was designed to allow a group to quickly assemble for a raid/world PVP/questing, not for skipping bosses.

Someone mentioned this to me tonight, it explains how a group was able to instantly be in Slags...
As far as instances are concerned, for those of us that play on pvp servers, it's a bit of a nuisance to have to be outside of the instance. It would be nice if Blizzard could make it so everyone (including the caster) gets ported to just inside the instance, if summoning inside an instance. But, I can see how for some dungeons which have a long run, that would be just as inconvenient. On the plus side, the Cataclysm dungeons are so easily accessible now from Stormwind/Orgrimmar, there's not a whole lot of use for summoning stones anyway.

@theRaptor- if you check the blue quotes as posted on MMO Champion, is clears up their intent:
http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/166182/why-the-have-group-will-travel-change
Especially note the last sentence: "We're also in the process of removing its use in Tol Barad while the battle is active."
This indicates (at least to me) that the conditional ("while the battle is active") is specifically attached to the location "in Tol Barad", as applied to the design intent.
However, I may be mistaken :)

@Zweitblom This has already been implemented. A few days ago I tried to summon my group inside an instance and it didn't work. Two days later, we couldn't summon the guildies we swapped for a boss without going outside. The sentence structure makes it ambiguous, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is theRaptor's option A.
Sorcha Mar 30th 2011 10:35AM
I've looked for it since but I can't find it: on the EU CS forum last week there was a blue post saying that it was an intended mechanic for you to be able to skip bosses in this way. They changed their mind on a later thread. So it looks like a case of miscommunication to me.

Bummer, I was hoping for a lighter fix along the lines of "using HGWT inside a dungeon/raid will have no effect on party/raid members already inside the same dungeon/raid, and will summon all other party/raid members to the beginning of the dungeon/raid". Maybe harder to code, but it was nice to be able to use it to summon in a late joiner without having to run all the way out to the meeting stone.
Zankoku Mar 29th 2011 11:26PM
I like the HGWT fix for TB. HAving the attackers control 2 camps, then teleporting everyone to the 3rd is broken and makes for an impossible defense.
Eregos ftw! Mar 29th 2011 11:32PM
Can anyone else actually see the comments? They aren't showing up for me...

Oops, commenting again did it. Downvote or delete please!

The first time I had someone teleport us on offense in TB I laughed so hard, but knew a fix would end up coming :

Why hasn't anyone from Blizz addressed the Horde BG queue problem? I have seen an insane amount of forum post about this and not a single response from a blue.
Zankoku Mar 30th 2011 2:59AM
what exactly is the problem?
BG queue not popping at all? population issues? popping but not teleporting? what?
Jonisjalopy Mar 30th 2011 9:22AM
It's the same "solution" as the "queue problem" for DPS.
It'll only get better when blizz can force people to roll a certain Spec/Faction. That's not likely to happen any time soon.
quickshiv Mar 30th 2011 9:43AM
They have a solution in place and are perfectly happy with it. It will cost you $30.
