At 348 equipped ilevel (346s, 333 bracers, 359 legs/boots/trinkets), I have over 2600 spirit. I am ~150 haste shy of 916, so that's something I will likely correct as I now move into big-boy raids.
However what surprises me about this article is how crit is lumped into the lowest stat weight. While I do gem for int first, I have geared to maximize spirit/crit whenever possible, and gear with those two as natural secondary stats are my preferred choice. There was no mention of how crit plays with talents and offers additional regen.
I find that with such beefy regen, I do not have much of a fear of depleting my mana pool if I need to weave in more greater healing waves at tough times. For instance, my 'rotation' is generally Riptide-(Unleash)-HW-HW, not necessarily on the same target. Using riptide on anyone on cooldown lets you keep enjoying the hasted HW/GHW's. With this level of spirit/crit, if I go 3-4 rotations using GHW instead of HW, my mana really isn't all that bad still. The choice to use the higher mana spell isn't all that difficult anymore.
