Heirloom items bound to Battle.net accounts on patch 4.1 PTR

It's too early to discern exactly what this new distinction means, but at the very least, you should be able to mail heirlooms to characters on your realm that are on a different WoW account but the same Battle.net account. It's not known whether or not you'll finally be allowed to mail heirlooms to different realms, but at least you'll be able to mail some heirlooms to that Recruit-a-Friend mule account you made. Pretty cool!
We'll let you know if Blizzard gives any official word on what's happening.
WoW Patch 4.1 is on the PTR, and WoW Insider has all the latest news for you -- from previews of the revamped Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub to new valor point mechanics and new archaeology items.

PJ Mar 30th 2011 8:52PM
Finally!
I hope you are right in this, this has been bugging me for years!!
Dan Mar 30th 2011 8:56PM
Hopefully you can mail them across realms AND factions, and not just across multiple accounts linked to one bnet.
Jack Draven Mar 30th 2011 8:56PM
I would play Horde if I could mail my heirlooms across servers. Here's to hoping that is what this means!
Bapo Mar 30th 2011 9:05PM
At first I was like :D :D :D :D WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS THIS AMAZINGNESS
And then I read what was in the post, and was like :|
I hope this means cross server, and not just cross accounts linked to one battle.net thing....

I have to admit that my worry has always been if Blizz did this, there would be a MT fee involved. Something I would find horribley dissapointing, but not very surprised if they did it. My hopes that this news if proven to be true, may finally dispell that.
Poltergeist Mar 30th 2011 9:44PM
There already is a microtransaction fee to mail BoA items to different servers. Simply load up a character with all of the items in question and server transfer.
Utakata Mar 31st 2011 3:56AM
Well you better hold off tranferring your BoA's that way, until we get an official thumbs up on this, Poltergeist. Hate to see you going to that expense when you could be doing it for free.

Hmm maybe theres hope for my recruit-a-friend mule after all. I was going to let it expire.
emberdione Mar 30th 2011 9:40PM
I am pretty sure this means that we will be able to hand things over to our other accounts, provided they are on the same bnet.
My second account alts just felt a ray of hope that they might get leveled ever.
Hypersky Mar 30th 2011 10:12PM
I'm still waiting to be able to mail my "Bound to Account" Baby Blizzard Bear to other servers...
Yobari Mar 30th 2011 10:25PM
*Gasp* I can use my heirlooms for Diablo 3?!? How cool would that be :p
Karcharos Mar 30th 2011 10:33PM
Sadly it looks like this isn't what we're hoping for, at least not yet. First step, maybe. (Please don't vote down the messenger, lol)

Official Patch Notes update:
Account Bound Items
Many "Account Bound" heirlooms are now labeled as "Battle.net Account Bound", meaning that they can also be traded or mailed to characters that are on different World of Warcraft accounts under the same Battle.net account.
Mail sent to characters on the same Battle.net account now arrives instantaneously, as it does for the same World of Warcraft account.
Mailing account-bound items to characters of the opposite faction on the same Battle.net account will now correctly translate faction-specific items to their appropriate equivalent.
drdiabolical6 Mar 30th 2011 10:47PM
Lol, how come nobody realizes that you can send heirlooms to the opposite faction on the same realm right now.
Sir Broose Mar 30th 2011 11:20PM
There's a whole thread about it on the first page of the comments.
Marshal Mar 30th 2011 10:58PM
Oh wow, now this is just simply awesome. Glad I waited and not spend money on a "mule" character to have it carry my heirloom items to a friend's server. Simply awesome.
Ichigo Mar 30th 2011 11:09PM
Transfers between accounts is fine but that really services a small percentage of the player population.
This will be epic if it is a true ability to transfer to different servers within the same account.
Dart Matsuraki Mar 30th 2011 11:30PM
Yay! You used a screenshot of my manly Orc as a header! I feel special
GraceAlone Mar 30th 2011 11:37PM
I really hope this means cross server transfers. Seems silly to own an item but not be able to use it a different server (yes, I know there are technical limitations) :D

Very pro-families-playing-together move. Very classy.
