Heirloom items bound to Battle.net accounts on patch 4.1 PTR

It's too early to discern exactly what this new distinction means, but at the very least, you should be able to mail heirlooms to characters on your realm that are on a different WoW account but the same Battle.net account. It's not known whether or not you'll finally be allowed to mail heirlooms to different realms, but at least you'll be able to mail some heirlooms to that Recruit-a-Friend mule account you made. Pretty cool!
We'll let you know if Blizzard gives any official word on what's happening.
WoW Patch 4.1 is on the PTR, and WoW Insider has all the latest news for you -- from previews of the revamped Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub to new valor point mechanics and new archaeology items.

Have had two accounts for a couple of years. I am VERY happy.

Damnit, I just leveled two characters on friend's servers and unsubscribed my second account (had a mage for teleports and a char with disenchanting that I used to group with). I don't think this news could have come at a worse time for me, but it should be good news for everyone else.

Oh good. My mage is about to hit 80, and my baby priest on the second account could use that gear.

I hope this includes or will one day include Archaeology BoA's. I have ended up with all the caster stuff on an account with no caster's :( and I just know that if I did Archaeology on the other account I would probably end up with all the melee stuff on that one lol.

Excellent news about the boa's though nothing said about being able to send them across realms on or not on the same account.
But specualting from what they have writen "meaning that they can also be traded or mailed to characters that are on different World of Warcraft accounts under the same Battle.net account." it isnt saying they can be traded or mailed to characters on the same realm on different world of warcraft accounts under the same battle.net account. would suggects you could unless they exspect us to know we already cant so not bothered writing it.
The added part about items fraction specific changing when mailed to the opperset fraction is nice though, dont have to re grind to get the horde version etc...

This is almost good enough news to a) Start an alliance character; b) On a different server.

One thing you must do when this happens track the heirlooms on a piece of paper or txt document lol since it will be able to go on other realms and any of your accounts with battle.net XD

If I understand the article correctly, it is a disappointment. I saw the headline and thought that if the toon was in the same bnet account, it could be mailed to that toon regardless of server, but it seems this is not the case as of yet.
It's probably a benefit for those players with multiple accounts, but I'd like to be able to have Alliance toons on one RP server and Horde toons on another server and be able to use the heirlooms on both.

Same thing I was thinking. I keep my factions on separate servers, too. A lot of people I know do the same. Being able to mail BoA's from my Ally main to my Horde alts would be fantastic, but it doesn't appear that this is the patch that will make that possible.

Oh PLEASE let this be what I hope it is. Having tons of heirlooms on one server while you struggle along with none on another server is not fun. And having to pick which heirlooms to send over to another server on a toon is even less fun. Cause you ALWAYS end up needing the ones you sent, or you wouldn't have gotten them in the first place! LOL And that of course isn't even counting the money (real world money) it takes if you want to send toons back and forth with your heirlooms.
Much as many before me have said.
Fingers....toes.....and anything else I can....is crossed! Inter-server heirlooms!...
Come on Blizzard....do us right on this one!!!
