Patch 4.1 is chock-full of goodies, and it looks like a whole new slew of heirlooms are on the way. Better yet, the names of most of the heirlooms hearken back to the Molten Core days, hinting at the fact that the tier 1 sets might be coming back as heirloom sets. While the Might set is the only one currently listed, but we might be seeing fan favorites such as
Giantstalker,
Nightslayer,
Earthfury, and others as full sets. Considering we're going to the Firelands, the second domain of Ragnaros' that we'll be facing him in, it makes sense that old Molten Core raid items might pop back up.

I'm just curious how alt levelers are going to put together a whole set. My alt is going to be 85 before I even put together 4 or 5 pieces.
Ilmyrn Mar 30th 2011 5:43PM
Helmet, gloves, chest, shoulders, legs, boots. Six pieces doesn't seem like too much hassle if you really care about your alt being color coordinated while he/she/it levels. And that's assuming they put the boots in, which isn't a given anymore, sadly.
I'm sick of not having matching tier boots Blizzard!
Damn Dirty Ape Mar 30th 2011 4:15PM
Looks like Blizz is trying to entice some people into leveling up tanks.
Hal Mar 30th 2011 4:18PM
Unless that list includes the T2 Judgement set, I'm not interested.
Bapo Mar 30th 2011 4:37PM
Agreed. Maybe it'll become the caster plate gear, so it stays pally only?
Eyhk Mar 30th 2011 5:41PM
Tiers 2 through 11 were merely a setback!
Bananananadin Returns!

Yeah, I have thought this in the past (usually when people talk about how they'd like t2 back) but if it was freely available and you saw everyone in it, it'd lose it's charm a bit. I really wouldn't want that, Judgement looks mega awesome, as does Stormrage, Bloodfang etc!
Pyromelter Mar 30th 2011 8:18PM
I think t2 is universally accepted as the generally the greatest tier ever, and while the pally judgement set is the most famous, many of the others were amazing, for example the mage Netherwind regalia http://www.wowhead.com/itemset=210 - if you ever drank the underbelly elixir that turned everyone in dalaran into a mage, you were looking at the mage t2 set.
certain classes have had better specific sets, like shaman t10 and warlock t6, but t2 was just classic greatness all around.

I'm not sure how much bigger these shoulder pieces can be:

World of Rehash is still running strong I see...
Mattimus Mar 30th 2011 4:22PM
What exactly do you want from your heirlooms?
Neirin Mar 30th 2011 5:05PM
I want my heirlooms to be super awesome and original and have shoulder armor so big that you can't walk through doorways and they obviously have to glow but not a lame glow like lesser beastslaying something cool that looks like fireworks and they should make the screen shake for everyone around me like devilsaurs and they should also play "Eye of the Tiger" for anyone near me cause I'm so awesome I need my own personal soundtrack.
matthewggrammer Mar 30th 2011 5:56PM
Nether's correct.
I'd love to see some completely new content.
I had already raided Naxx, killed Onyxia (twice!), killed Nefarian, cleared ZG (exalted!), and cleared ZA (bear mount!). They re-did Azeroth (which was cool) ... but it was still a re-hash much in the same way ZG/ZA is. Hell, hasn't Cho'Gall died a couple times in the lore already?
This is the Deathwing expansion. Giant black dragon lore, please.
Mattimus Mar 30th 2011 6:04PM
Point of fact, it is -also- the Elemental expansion. Or did the Elemental Invasion pre-expansion event fly over your head?
Boozard Mar 30th 2011 8:38PM
not everyone was playing during classic and not everyone was playing during TBC. so to many, including myself, this is pretty much new content. sucks for you though.
StClair Mar 31st 2011 3:20AM
It is impossible, even for Blizzard, to produce new content faster than players can consume it.
Blae Mar 30th 2011 4:19PM
Bad idea is bad. We all know t1 generally looked like ass and t2 looked badass.
torin00 Mar 30th 2011 4:48PM
Whether it looked like ass or not, it makes more sense with Ragnaros, so I can understand why they're doing it.
Falcon6 Mar 30th 2011 4:47PM
Well, considering the big bad for the next tier of raiding is Ragnaros and considering that Firelands is supposedly going to have Molten Core references galore, it seems only right that they would reference Tier 1.
Maybe if need be, they could reference Tier 2 if something big happens at Blackrock Mountain.
Also, I bet the heirlooms are tied to the new daily quests in Hyjal and Firelands.
Skizzit Mar 30th 2011 4:58PM
Agreed. While a couple of the T1 sets are ok, I would much rather see the T2 sets return. They still remain some of the best designed armor sets in the game, esp. the Rogue and Pally sets.
