Breakfast Topic: What role do you fill in your guild?

Aside from official ranks such as officers and raid leaders, there are plenty of niche roles that guild members can fall into. I'm personally of the opinion that every guild can benefit from having a designated whipping boy to call their own. You know who I'm talking about. Everyone cracks jokes at his expense. Failures are blamed on him, even when he's not logged on. From the outsider's viewpoint, it might look suspiciously like everybody hates him! Yeah, that guy.
However, it's all done with tongues planted firmly in cheeks, and everybody has nothin' but love for their friendly neighborhood scapegoat. In reality, he is not just some pusillanimous pushover ... He is simply that special breed of person strong enough to take all that good-natured ribbing for what it really is. (Of course, if my guild's own whipping boy ever stumbles upon this, I'll completely deny ever writing such nice things about him.)
Then there's the Chief of the Guild Note Police. This handy person is obsessed with guild notes and will make sure that they are always filled with useful information. When a new member joins the guild, the Chief is the first to bluntly ask, "Hey, who are you?" Without their dedication, you might not know that the level 12 worgen who just logged on is actually your guild leader.
These are just a few of the various personalities I've seen during my time in Azeroth. What kinds of minor roles have you noticed folks playing in your guild? Is there a specific type of member you believe no guild should be without? What about you? Is there a role you tend to play amongst your circle of friends?

I'm the tank with requisite blonde moments. Usually I'm the one who takes 5 minutes to get a joke because I'm thinking about it too hard...
I'm also the one who will take care of issues outside of WoW for people in RL (all my guildmates and I are in the same industry, and I can get to the bottom of certain vendor problems quickly due to working for a major vendor).
Also the requisite female, the one who has all the high level professions, the crapton of toons, and the person who can play whatever role necessary to get us through an instance.
I guess I'm the jack of all trades...

YAY! Love to see another female MT.
I'm the guild's MT, Recruitment Officer and Events Coordinator. I'm the gal that knows who all the alts are and organizes random holiday parties.
(We usually take care of a crap load of holiday achieves that way)
I'm also the one who makes flasks and welcomes new members. Very social. :)

Token gay guy.
Swifteye Apr 1st 2011 8:48AM
You know, I never actually thought about it, but my current guild doesn't have one of those and it's the only guild I've ever been in that didn't.
I miss the token gay guy! As one of the girls, I always got along well with him... and it was always fun to get together with him and some of the other girls and just talk about how hot guys were, and listen to the guys alternate between complaining about the subject making them uncomfortable and complaining about the gay guy always being the most popular with the girls...
Good times, good times. You, sir, are an asset; keep up the good work! ^_^

I sit around with the girls in vent and talk about how sexy Token Austrailian Guys voice is.
Swifteye Apr 1st 2011 9:48AM
Oh man, that's another thing that my current guild doesn't have that all of my other guilds have! Quit reminding me of what I'm missing out on; I'm happy with my guild otherwise! :p
I was even in a guild once where Token Gay Guy and Token Austrailian Guy *were the same person*. I tell ya, ALL the girls were tearing their hair out because they couldn't have him, and ALL the guys were irritated that none of the girls even realized they existed whenever that guy was around!

@Mazaltov & Swifteye:
I'm sure you'll fill those missing Aussie spots swiftly if you learn to spell the word right. It's "Australian". :)

I'm the guild Therapist.

I would have said font of knowledge, but as of last weekend I'm the guy who can give you directions over guildchat to the start of the quest chain you missed.

I fill the role of the only one who didn't drop ship for Rift because two people gquit the same day for a bigger guild.
Before that, I was known as The Interrupter. My ePeen grew quite a bit every time I looked at the meters following Halfus.

Can anyone remember the name of a website where they recorded videos of themselves running through instances as a group and commenting as they went along? I really want to find this site but can't remember it at all! Sorry for the off-topic-ness!

Project Lore, not sure it's available anymore tho, plug was pulled on it quite a while back.

In BC, before dual spec, I was the "raid spackle". I filled the holes that needed fixing.
Raid was a healer short? Got it covered. Need another tank for a particular boss? Done.
It got expensive there for a while, at 50g a respec, but it was fun. You never knew what role you were going to play. Made rolling for gear an interesting dilemma though...

Raid Spackle - best name ever! :)

I am the Crazy Street Preacher. I do my best to hand out copies of "Holy Bologna: What the Light Won't Tell You" and occasionally have been known to stand on the side streets of Org preaching the Cult of the Forgotten Shadow.
I am a patch of shade to the light-weary world and a fisher of orcs.
Empowered Shadow empowers the Horde!

I'm ... hmm. Resident altoholic? We have plenty of those. Sole Alliance supporter (in a Horde guild)? Given our size, I'm sure there are others. Obsessive supporter of Maiev Shadowsong in all things? I know *that* one has to be unique.
