Cryptozoic invites you to Darkmoon Faire Chicago this weekend, April 1-3

Darkmoon Faire Chicago will give players a chance to play and see the newest expansion to the WoW TCG Worldbreaker set, War of the Elements. Battle with Ragnaros, Malfurion Stormrage, Nozdormu, Kalecgos, Tyrygosa, and more as tons of new characters and two new dragonflights enter the Trading Card Game. The new set is releasing worldwide on April 26, so stop by for a sneak peak.
As we learned at BlizzCon, Cryptozoic doesn't go anywhere without a ton of prizes and giveaways. Players will get the chance to open up the Savage Raptor loot card, the rare in-game mount for the War of the Elements set, and the winner of Cryptozoic's Hero Challenge can submit their in-game character's name to become a card in a future TCG set. You'll also be able to challenge Alexstrasza to become a "dragon slayer" and participate in the costume contest on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Check out all the information on the Darkmoon Faire Chicago and Cryptozoic's first Epic Con. And for all the latest coverage of the event, make sure to keep an eye on Cryptozoic's live coverage page!

I wonder if it's a coincidence that this weekend Chicago is also hosting the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging. I bet those two crowds have a lot of overlap. ;)

So the doors open in... 1 minute.
Yeah, it's totally ideal to be hearing about this for the first time right now.

It's kind of like Joystiq and Steam sales.
For December, Valve had a Steam sale every day. About 5-10 games, for that day only. And Joystiq would report on them 5 HOURS before the sale was over. Every day.

The Donald E Stephens Convention center is actually a good 20 minutes outside the city in lovely Rosemont, IL. It's a pretty bustling suburb though and they are good at the old conventions ;)

I was going to point that out, too. It's close to O'Hare so everyone assumes that means it's in Chicago. Just a word to those headed there who are not familiar with the area. Traffic gets terrible because the entrance to the convention center is adjacent to hotels. Patience, a lot of it, will be required. I won't be going. I have baking to do.

I kinda hate you guys now.
If not for the extremely short notice the Husband and I would be going. Alas he already has a Chicago area magic thing so we don't get to go.
I take it back, I do hate you.

It's not WoW Insider's fault. Cryptozoic just needs someone competent doing their marketing - someone who would make sure this information was disseminated, like, 6 weeks ago.
I don't play TCG, and I'm sure many of those who do would have already been watching for this sort of event well in advance. But this is the type of event that a lot of folks tangentially interested - for example, a WoW player such as myself - would think was a cool idea and might make an effort to go check it out.
It doesn't really matter, though. The linked page says "Player registration will occur on Friday during hall hours", but it says nothing about ticket prices for non-players. So I guess potential spectators are neither welcomed nor wanted.

Coincidence would have it that if the MTG event that is rather large this weekend would be the Midwest Masters Series it is being held at this exact site by pastimes. So you will get to go, if it is not well then I dunno what to tell you, but assuming that your MTG event is in the chicagoland area it would not suprise me that this is it. I will also be there for a MTG event the one I stated in this post actually
