Breakfast Topic: Design your fantasy vanity loot
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the AOL guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
We have all seen a Spectral Tiger mount in game, and I am sure most of you have heard of it going on eBay for upwards of $500 -- not exactly affordable. Now while I suspect almost everyone would love a tiger mount, we probably won't get it. But what if you could get a piece of loot, some cool, neat, awesome item from a loot card ... What would it be?
Now, I am not talking about existing loot, but if you could design something neat -- either as a mount or as a charged item -- what would you design? What do you think would have people asking you, "Hey, how did you do that?"
Personally, I want a loot card with 50 charges that forcibly lifts other players up about 10 feet, above the NCP I need to talk to. The ability to move people out of my way when turning in a quest, especially those on mounts, would be so worth it. Loot: "Irresistible Force."
If I can't have that, I want my genie bottle. What is that, you say? Well, I loved I Dream of Jeannie as a kid and always thought that would be cool. So I want a bottle that will turn me into smoke, suck me into the bottle, then burble me back out at the city of my choosing. I am okay with only getting two bottles, one I place anywhere in Azeroth or Outlands and one I keep on me. Then when I activate my bottle, I will be sucked in and burbled out where my other bottle is, and I can move it when I am done with that area. I just think that would be so cool! Loot: "RBT: Rapid Bottle Transport."
What vanity item would you design?

Two-seater core hound mount, with a saddle on each neck.
MusedMoose Apr 3rd 2011 11:01AM
Nice. Reminds me of what the ogres would say in WarCraft II if you clicked on them a lot:
"This way!" "No, that way!"

Portable Shaman
100 charges
Use: Summon your Portable Shaman to cast Blood Lust for you!
I don't like not having a shaman mage or hunter in my raid and lacking BL -.-

I just want a pegasus. An honest-to-goodness pegasus, the timeless paragon of beauty... not a rotting horse with leathery bat wings or a glass horse full of stars (both of which have hideously stumpy legs... did you accidentally use a ram skeleton for those instead of a horse, Blizz??). Just a big, glossy, noble white stallion with huge, feathery, angelic white wings.
Barring that, I want a Crocolisk mount. I freakin' LOVE that Frenzyheart quest that sends you to Mistwhiper Village for the first time on the back of a Crocolisk; he's like a giant skateboard! Crocolisk. Skateboard. Want.

Kharma Chameleon vanity pet. This vanity pet will eat any toon that herbs or mines a node in the immediate vicinity of where you are fighting a mob. Then will spit them out in a graveyard as far from a capital city as possible in a region with level 1 - 20 herbs/minerals.

Hi-Ho Silver, Mggguurrrrrlll!
Use: Summon your rideable trusty murloc steed. All players that come within 10 yards begin to dance.

I love shapechanging items, and I enjoyed the Vash'jir questline that has you playing a Battlemaiden. I was a bit disappointed when I discovered that the bones of transformation changed my female characters into a male naga - I'd love to have something that changes you into a female naga.
Also, nagas should be skinnable and give nagahide. I suspect someday they'll be a playable race so this isn't being implemented because it'd be in poor taste, but hey, we used to be able to skin worgen, right?
Chetti Apr 3rd 2011 12:24PM
Worgen can still be skinned, in places like shadowfang and probably darkshire. :) I do like the idea of nagahide. :) Although I'd think naga would skin off scales of some sort instead of leather, then again, dragons have a chance of giving either one.. so sure, why not nagas too.

Portable Hole
Use: Target a wall. A character-sized hole appears in that wall and you can walk through. 8-hour CD.
Requires Engineering(525)
"Caution: May take you into parts of the game world that Blizzard haven't designed yet."
aedonix Apr 3rd 2011 11:44AM
You just KNOW I would be casting that on the floor of the SW auction house during peak time...
Dreyja Apr 3rd 2011 1:09PM
Jarlaxle approves!
Ste Apr 3rd 2011 11:04AM
Bat flying mount (the ones used from UC).
I cannnot fathom why they aren't already in game, it's all my UD warlock has ever wanted.
Shade Apr 3rd 2011 11:07AM
I would love to dual wield the nerfbat (for assholery) and the banhammer (for douchebaggery)
...wait, design your own? Oh. A series of appearance changing items that correspond to various groups. For instance, my main's story is that he's conducting research in the Eye of Eternity following the end of the Nexus war, so something that makes him look a bit more blue dragonflight-ish would be nice :D
Ozzard Apr 3rd 2011 11:08AM
Brain in a Jar
Bind on use
Use: Target another player in your 5-man instance. Instead of voting to kick that character, the group votes to kick the *player*. On a successful vote, the player's control of the character is replaced with a simple AI controlling that character for the remainder of the instance.
"Finally we can give that douche of a tank a brain!"
Kadamon Apr 3rd 2011 11:18AM
A Headpiece.
Y'know how there's either Monocole's or Tophat's?
Well, I want both in one Vanity Item.
Something Snazzy, y'know?
Drakkenfyre Apr 3rd 2011 11:23AM
Tacklebox.
An Engineering -created item which does not require Engineering to use. Places a tacklebox beside the person, allowing you to right-click it and get a lure appropriate for your fishing level. Unlimited charges, Lasts for 20 minutes, no cooldown. Players in your party can use it, too.
Submarine.
Engineering-created water mount. Perhaps requires Engineering to use. Designed after the Gnomish Submarine from WarCraft 2. Two designs. One for the Alliance, one for the Horde. Horde get Goblin Turtle Submarines, like in WarCraft 2. Allows underwater breathing. Does not have weapons.
vinniedcleaner Apr 3rd 2011 11:27AM
Anti-Ganker Spray
Unlimited charges/BoA/Self Cast only
Applies a buff to your charater that will cause any opposing faction that attacks you and outgears/outlevels you, to have all their gear reduced to zero durability and a larger than normal hunter's mark placed over their heads for a period of 6 hours game time. Entering a neutral city/Sanctuary will cause all guards to attack. Entering one of their faction citys/towns/outposts/etc will immediately port them to one of the world's prisons for a period of not less than 12 hours but not more than one week game time, depending on the severity of the offense.
Darthregis Apr 3rd 2011 11:30AM
Garrosh as a mount. Yay piggy-backs!
wollsmoth Apr 3rd 2011 11:34AM
A Doctor Who style scarf. ^_^
tophat56 Apr 3rd 2011 11:51AM
Sonic Screwdriver (Trinket):
Use: Unlocks doors, chests and general things that needs unlocking. Doesn't work on wood. That'd just be silly.
Requires: Level 908
Class: Time Lord
