PTR patch 4.1: New fishing dailies appearing in Undercity

Blizzard has stated that Cataclysm is intended to keep both Orgrimmar and Stormwind as the central hubs for players to congregate in, with portals to Cataclysm zones and daily profession hubs. With new fishing dailies being added to other cities, players will be traveling to different cities just a boat or zeppelin ride away to make use of some of the underused assets in the game. If people have now noticed, the amount of content being added for patch 4.1 (and potentially, 4.2) constantly grows larger. Combined, these could be some of the more feature-rich patches in WoW's history.
WoW Patch 4.1 is on the PTR, and WoW Insider has all the latest news for you -- from previews of the revamped Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub to new valor point mechanics and new archaeology items.

I foresee a future in which my mage will not be able to walk through Stormwind without a dozen or so whispers for ports. Time to dust off those Runes of Portals.
Drakkenfyre Apr 4th 2011 2:38PM
That time already passed. It was right after 4.0.3a dropped, and people who didn't read the patch notes nor knew how to get down to the ground from Dalaran were whispering Mages to get a port.

It's funny. Sometimes I like to just hang out on my mage and socialize, spam my portal service. Usually I get a bunch of pst or none at all. It's so hit or miss. I am actually surprised the last couple holidays there weren't more people wanting the quick ports. Maybe people were flying more and exploring on their own. Or maybe there are more mages on? Since I usually hang out in less populated areas I don't get the tells from people passing by I only get them from spamming gen chat. At least this is how it has been on my server. As always it seems more people ask for ports when I am not on my mage :p

I see lazy SOB's all the time.
"LF port from SW to IF"
"You know you can just take the tram for free, right?"
"Yeah, but I don't want to wait."
"LF port from Darnassus to SW."
"There's a boat, goes straight here."
"Don't want to take a boat."
Mell Apr 4th 2011 4:22PM
Or the people that spam trade "LF portal to...." for over 15 minutes. In the time that they have been spamming, they could have been to their destination. Pure laziness at its finest.

I am a man of no small WoW gold means, and when I want to be somewhere- say, a toon I left in dalaran, or that I just got to level 80, or want to get from Ironforge to Stormwind, or even Shattrath or Dalaran, I say in Trade- WTB portal IF to SW, 15g.
Mages trip over themselves to service me!
And while 15g isn't nothing, it isn't a lot, and if I think to myself- would I pay 15g so I can be doing the the quests/dailies/exploration/auction house/other content I want to do, or try to sit back an enjoy the scenery while I get there, obliterating a third of the half hour I have to play right now (really limited play time now with school and finals on), and I pay it- GLADLY. 15g isn't the ceiling, but I pay to get service FAST- I'm not sitting there spamming 2 or 3 or 5g so I can save on this one- my playtime is PRECIOUS!
So, yeah, I'm lazy when it comes to that. Yessir, yes I am. Proud of it, too. :)

its great that they keep adding stuff, but i hope they release 4.1 soon. if they don't it will be like wrath again, BWD and BOT are out for 7 months, then firelands is out for 2 months.

The Undercity elevators were getting jealous of the BWD elevator boss' kill count and wanted to sucker new victims into their evil clutches.
Cephas Apr 4th 2011 2:44PM
Do people really die that often in the Undercity elevators? There are doors that prevent you from walking into the elevator shaft when the elevator isn't there. Is there a bug or something that gets you killed there?
razion Apr 4th 2011 2:59PM
It is very possible to die in the elevators. You simply have to get through the door at the very instant they close--and that that instant, the floor drops. There's about half a second between the door closing and the floor beginning to drop, and if you aren't already on the floor before the door starts to close, you're dead because the floor will fall faster than you. This means you plummet all the way to the bottom of the whole elevator shaft.
Happens. All. The. Time.
VioletArrows Apr 4th 2011 3:02PM
If you time it right (wrong), you'll end up running through the door as it closes, but the elevator itself drops a second earlier. Hence if you fall, you never catch up until it's already at the bottom. Splat.
It's also possible to do this at the bottom of the elevator and get stuck, and have to wait until the lift comes back down. Whether it crushes you or not, I don't know, since I've been able to run back out as the door opened.

@Cephas - My paladin had a hell of a time (for whatever reason) doing Headless Horseman runs one year. Every day that I signed her in to do the fight I'd die to the UC elevator.
No other character was gifted with the elevator curse like she was...
Not to mention that my drakes usually don't fit into the elevator...a good reason to avoid the town in general!
Maxilimus Apr 4th 2011 6:04PM
Also, if you hump the wall you can eaisly get caught on a edge and be left stranded in the middle of the shaft. You can jump down and die, or try to time a jump perfectly to jump back on while it goes back up.
Note* you can try, but dont expect to succeed
Aticus Apr 4th 2011 10:33PM
Don't forget the battle for the undercity. I chose the wrong lift and fell to the spikes below... instant death lol.

Here is hopeing something gets added to Silithus or Arathi. Swore I saw on wowhead some datamined quest for those zones.
Myst45 Apr 4th 2011 2:34PM
Do a google search on Silithus 4.1 Revamp, seems like there is some things being added. Nothing turns up for Arathi however. =(
I really wish they would update Dustwallow Marsh as well, that place is awful.
RogueJedi86 Apr 4th 2011 2:41PM
Myst45, they already updated Dustwallow once in 2.3 or so, do they really need to update it again? That'd be 3 revamps to it(counting Cataclysm), when zones like Arathi and Silithus haven't even gotten one yet.
Peepers Apr 4th 2011 2:49PM
Silithus got revamped once too. Before the revamp it was where characters who had their accounts cancelled went to die.
Cephas Apr 4th 2011 2:50PM
All they did in 2.3 was add a quest hub. The old quest hubs are still in there Vanilla state. Brackenwall Village and Theramore could certainly benefit from some sprucing up.
Chokaa Apr 4th 2011 2:51PM
Hey! Silithus was revamped once before. The aq addition! Prior to that it was only like 5 quests lol.
