Rude Awakening is a fascinating introduction to the character Gihara. Created by Azulinde, this movie features an amazingly intriguing opening dialogue by the main character. There's no hint to whether this introduction will continue into a longer movie, but based on the quality of this video, I certainly hope so.
The writing and framing of this video are both executed incredibly well. The dialogue conveys a sense of strength, power, and a muddled past without stumbling into troubling "Mary Sue" territory. The shots do a great job of indicating the character's mystery without just being two minutes of Livejournal-esque angst.
Azulinde really did an outstanding job here. I really want the team to continue the series and clue us in to the rest of the story. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Only problem I had is the recording of the vocals wasn't very clear. Add that accent in to it and I couldn't understand the majority of what the character said. Subtitles would have been welcome.
the voice acting lacks emotion and could have used much better clean up. The visuals upstaged it by far... with graphics this beautiful and such skilled animation, why not bring the voice acting on par? This draenei character was left hollow and the female portraying her sounded like she wasn't connected at all. i was bored the whole time. like someone said earlier... it crucially needs subtitles because not everyone can understand english spoken with accents. the animation is nice and the presentation/script are wonderful, but the voice acting needs a LOT of work...
the visuals were really nice but i already knew he was a talented visual artist.
i agree with the previous poster that the vocals need some clean up and more emotion. otherwise it's really nice, and if it continues, i'm sure it will get better.

Makes me feel proud to have once been a member of Gihara's guild...sadly we're not around any more, though. Great video!
