I have always disliked Shadow bolt as a filler for no other reason than it has too long a cast time. Part of Affliction's fun, for me, is throwing out the instant cast DoTs and shorter cast time spells while being able to move about. To then have to stand still for so long to get off a "filler" spell seems rather antithetical.
