Blizzard has announced via the BlizzCon site that tickets for BlizzCon 2011 will be available for purchase in two batches: once on May 21 at 10 a.m. Pacific time, and a second time on May 25 at 7 p.m. Pacific time. The price has increased (again) to $175 per ticket. Virtual tickets will be available for $39.95, the same as last year.
Those wishing to attend the charity dinner can do so by purchasing the $500 ticket at Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
[EDIT: May 25th ticket sales start at 7 p.m. PT, not 7 a.m. PT.]

$175 Each?
There goes the daughter's ticket.
Dad is rolling solo this year.

I know right?
Last year I took the boy, this year I guess it'll be pay per view for me and the kid.

I'll be taking the cheapskate option and catch the livestream again. 2 tickets plus intercontinental flights plus hotel plus food means it isn't going to happen.

I wonder what kind of game they'll have this year...
I'm hoping for a Mortal Kombat-esque showdown between Deathwing and... Chuck Norris?

Ouch. This will be the first Blizzcon I miss.

So can we expect a bigger and better goodybag to match the price increase this year?
Corath Apr 12th 2011 5:56PM
Hmm... $75 more per ticket than what we paid in 2008. Unfortunately it doesn't deter me from wanting to go. Curse you Blizzard! (in a good way)

the livestream looks like a much more appealing option this year...
i know it's "only" a 25$ increase but 175$ really does feel like a lot more.

Ah - the laws of supply and demand at work. Maybe the price increase will put enough people off that I'll have a shot at going this time.

I'll be trying to get a ticket again this year. Last year I was lucky enough to get one after 3 years of trying. I'm really hoping for a Diablo III release date announcement and the official unveiling of Titan
RedMosquito Apr 12th 2011 6:16PM
Here's hoping for solid news about Diablo III.

I'm going to be under the "unsure" crowd this year... I'm going to Tennessee this summer and I don't think I'll have a remote chance in snagging one.. /sigh
Daedalus Apr 12th 2011 6:23PM
Ugh... On the one hand, I know I can't afford cross country airfare, hotels, etc.
On the other hand, 2005: BC announced. 2007: WotLK announced. 2009: Cat announced.
I was there for the Cataclysm reveal; I'd love to be there for the next expansion...
Amaxe Apr 12th 2011 8:52PM
2011: Hello Kitty Island expansion?
/duck
Bananadin Apr 13th 2011 9:53AM
/sigh
Amaxe, go buy the Hello Kitty Island expansion, install the game and join the online sensation before we all murder you.

I may actual look into splitting a ticket and only going one day if I'm able to go this year. Most of the fun is meeting up with people and then can be done outside the convention center, too.
I'm honestly debating about going down just for the meetups.
Kunikenwad! Apr 12th 2011 6:47PM
Honestly, the price increase may be a covert way of them to lower the crowds that have plagued the Blizzcons so far. By charging a bit more, they may weed out the crowd a bit and urge more to take the PPV option. But you can be sure that you'll get your money's worth this year (unlike last year) with the Diablo 3 release date, the next Starcraft expansion information, and probable announcement of Emerald Dream as the next WoW expansion (at least, according to the rumor mill). Realistically though, $175 for 2 days (about 22 hours of entertainment) equals less then $8/hour (assuming you don't buy an convention food). Not a bad investment for what could be the biggest Blizzcon in a long, long time.

Won't be Emerald Dream, it was sorted out in a book nobody knew about until everyone started talking about Emerald Dream expansions.
Everyone I know has a theory it'll be naga.
