Cata heroics can only seem long when compared to Wrath heroics. BC heroics were MUCH longer - for many of them it was assumed that it would be the only thing you did tonight. Wrath were abnormally short by comparison, and thankfully they've moved a little of the way back from the "I have to burn through X heroics tonight to farm Y badges of justice and anyone slowing me down needs to be berated or destroyed" mentality. (There were charts that people made on sites like Wowwiki that showed the average length of time for each of the different heroics as a method for determining how one could most efficiently farm badges in the least amount of time, and they never seem to get any of the blame for the "gogogo" mentality, but I think they deserve at least some of it.)
Point being, Wrath heroics were definitely the anomaly, not Cata heroics.
