Bravestarr of Malorne (US-H) Just a brief note on a tank we was everything you would want a tank to be: Bravestarr, on US-Malorne(H). Our group did not have the (ahem) best DPS - I did the most damage on our run of the Lost City of Tol'vir, and I had only hit 85/ilvl 329 the day before. He was in heroic raid gear and patiently kept the pace we could, not complaining once when we pulled trash mobs we could have skipped. So here's a note saying that it was noticed and appreciated! -- LarlockLocal Edition: Community news

Authentic and tragic The Tragically Hip are working to rebuild. We lost our Guild Leader about 8 months ago and our core was scattered throughout the rest of Blackwater Raiders. i was the last of the officers to Jump Ship but feel a need to return to my WoW roots (myself and 2 friends started the guild in college during BC when we had no idea what RP meant). At our peak in the beginning of WOTLK we were about 150 strong. I have recently gained control through a GM petition and am looking to start our guild up again. I made a website and bought a Vent server. Now we need Raiders! We have 4 returning members including myself and need all roles to start or 10-Man Raiding Dreams. We are a fairly laid back Guild and will be raiding 3 days a week, Tuesday evening, Thursday evening, and Saturday in the morning. We would be perfect for players looking for their break or with a desire for a leadership role as we will be needing officers. We are very loyal people and accept all that come with an open mind.
Worgs be wary Worg Pup Clubbing Club is aiming to make sure everyone feels valued. Worg Pup Clubbing Club is a guild with a vision. Our vision is to create a community in this wide World of Warcraft, a community where the members feel valued, wanted, accepted - at home, if you will. We aren't hardcore or casual, just a small group of open minded friends looking for more people to have fun and pass time with in a friendly environment.

Man, I was baffled and enraged for a sec there until I switched to viewing a more stable fight - Chimaeron. Shadow priest's DPS still seems a bit high for a hybrid class, though.
Lipstick Apr 13th 2011 7:06PM
Quiet! They might hear you! =p
Shadow priests have always been the red headed step children of the dps casters -- leave 'em alone. /sniffles.
Yvl Apr 13th 2011 7:10PM
It's an underplayed class (albeit probably because of what else they can be "when the raid needs it,") and I'd love to see more of them - but they're way too far ahead of other casters. Hunters are a bit too far ahead of everyone else as well. They both need to be doing about 2k DPS less.

It also just goes to show you how bad Arcane and Subtlety really are compared to their counterparts.
Revynn Apr 13th 2011 7:20PM
Errr, "Frost and Subtlety". I'm getting my Mage icons mixed up again.
Yvl Apr 13th 2011 7:21PM
Subtlety is more of a leveling spec. And a very, very good one. I don't have a mage but I am getting a little tired of seeing 3 identical mages show up for our raids - A class that popular really needs more viable options!

Shadow priests under played? You have to be kidding, I see more spriests these days then I do Mages. The early OPness in PVP made a lot of people switch at the beginning of Cata.
Spriests were about balanced at the end of Wrath but now they are way over the top (same as demo locks). And I say that as someone who played Shadow for half of BC and all through Wrath.
Yvl Apr 13th 2011 11:49PM
It's probably different between our realms.
talkingmike Apr 14th 2011 10:16AM
The Hybrid Tax no longer exists.
No, I don't have any sources or proof, but that seems to be a bygone concept of the Wrath era.

Long gone are the days of bringing down a boss and calling it day. This is a game you say?
Yvl Apr 13th 2011 7:13PM
This is more of a part of the metagame. You don't need to keep up with these numbers if you don't want to, it won't decrease your performance by not knowing. But some, such as myself, find this part of WoW to be almost as interesting and fun as the actual boss-killing.
Utakata Apr 13th 2011 9:10PM
I understand Yvl. As long as you understand this is not for everyone.
Sleutel Apr 13th 2011 6:55PM
What on earth happened on March 5? There's a huge dip there for a bunch of specs, which then levels out again.
Seriallos Apr 13th 2011 7:31PM
Sinestra parses started showing up on World of Logs. A new boss being killed will change up stats for a while.
Sleutel Apr 13th 2011 7:39PM
No, that doesn't seem right. It was a massive drop for two days, March 5 and March 6, after which it popped back up again. The dip is also more apparent in the "all parses" versus "top 100"--I highly doubt there are enough people working on Sinestra for it to make that big of an impact.
Seriously, go look.
Seriallos Apr 13th 2011 8:26PM
It's definitely Sinestra. The way Spec Score works is that a boss doesn't factor into the calculation until it's been killed - if all specs have 0 parses for that fight it's completely left out of the calculation for the Spec Score. If a boss has been killed and there are no parses for a spec, they get a 0 on that fight. Having that 0 appear all of a sudden drops their Spec Score way down until they actually have some data on the fight.
Look at the Sinestra-specific data:
http://raidbots.com/dpsbot/Sinestra/25H/all/14/60/default/
For example, first date ele shamans show up in 3/8 while the first data for other specs is 3/6. Only the specs that didn't show up in the first few days show the drop. The same is true of the other specs with the dramatic. Once they show up on the fight, their 0 turns into whatever percent of the top spec is and that raises their average far higher.

I just gotta say -- that the Tragically Hip is an awesome band! If no one has checked 'em out before, make sure to! They hail from Canada and are affectionately dubbed "thehip" by their fans. =)
I am not interested in server transferring but I am tempted to go say hi just to ask if that's how they got their name.
Grant Apr 14th 2011 10:49AM
It is indeed!

Are these logs for real? I mean 10Normal avg ranged DPS is between 24K and 28K? Omnotron 20-28K? I've been in 5-6 different 10 mans on my realm and I can safely say the avg from my WOL is about 15-16K.
