Garrosh remains my least favorite character in Blizzard's entire lineup, largely because the inconsistancies in his character are staggering. To steal a quote from Linkara, he jumps around more than a Mexican jumping bean on a grasshopper on a jackrabbit on a pogo stick.
Sometimes he's written as a brash young warrior with great respect for his father's friend. (Burning Crusade, and his short story)
Sometimes he can't keep the disgust for Thrall out of his voice (his dialogue at TOC, the Ulduar trailer).
Sometimes he acts like he wants to preserve the Horde's lands and keep its people safe. Then he orders Sylvanas to invade a neutral nation, thus denying that right to others uninvolved in his war and making himself a hypocrite.
Let's not forget that he orders Sylvanas to go to war, then turns around and screams at her for replacing her lost troops in a method he doesn't approve of.
He promises Thrall he'll respect his advisors and listen to what they have to say, then gets into a duel with Cairne (yes, Cairne pushed for it, but Garrosh didn't really try to placate him) and kicks Vol'jin out of the city.
He gives us the line "A true Warchief would never partner with cowards" right after King Varian crosses blades with him and Rhonin wallops him with an arcane blast, thus proving that both of them are willing to throw down for what they believe.
He dresses down a Warlord for going overboard with the killing spree, then kills him.
Let's not forget he fought a duel with Thrall over going to war with the Scourge, badmouthed the Trial of the Crusaders as a waste of time, and then spent all of Icecrown picking his nose and giving us a buff while Saurfang and Sylvanas actually led the attacks against the Lich King.
Garrosh is just...bizarre. It's like Blizzard has no idea what to do with him except use him as a springboard to provoke the maximum amount of anger. He's not a character, he's the Conflict Ball. Yes, he has his moments (his conversation with Saurfang is pretty good, for one) but it seems like these moments happen almost by accident rather than design.

Not a big fan of Garrosh, either, but in all fairness, Trial of the Crusaders was a waste of time.
"Lick King is on the rise? Ooh! Let's have a tourney!"

True, but what does Garrosh do after spending all his time there squawking about how this is a waste of time and we should get to Icecrown to finish the war?
Nothing.
He plays no part in the story at Icecrown. Sylvanas leads the attack on the frozen halls and Saurfang commands the assault on the upper spire. Garrosh's contribution to the war effort is nil, damage buff aside.
So, after all that complaining, he finally gets to Icecrown and...lets everyone else do the work for him.
This is why I laughed aloud when the Shattering tried to purport that some members od the Horde military believe Garrosh killed the Lich King. I'm sorry Ms Golden, but after Blizzard dropped the ball that badly, you're -not- going to convince me of such a thing.

I don't like him either and I agree that is rather inconsistent, but you have to put the actions you listed in chronological order; then they somewhat make sense. There is a gradual change, not jumping all over the place like you make it seem. Still, even in the right order it sometimes seems the writers don't know how to balance his new found "honor" with the bloodlust he still has.
As for the blue post, it's nice they're doing this, but why? We already know all of this and anyone who didn't would be better off looking at wowpedia/wowwiki than this post. How about instead of these half-page/half-ass posts about characters, they get back to the Faction Leader stories on the Cata site?

Fair point CDave, I was largely just typing things in the order they came to mind.

I can't say more. I agree that this guy is at the BEST, a loose cannon, and at the worst, the death of the honorable Horde. :(
