i think Sylvanas will be a raid boss before Garrosh. I think people hate him because he was hard to put up with in Northrend. if you look at it militarily though, Garrosh has made many pushes for the horde in cataclysm. lore-wise he is hero of northrend for leading a successful campaign. taking a lot of territory for the horde, even while the horde struggles to stay stitched together. ( and no, it's not all Garrosh's fault. Sylvanas is back to her dirty tricks, the tauren have had to deal with a civil war, and blood elves as a whole are absent.)
its sad that i find it hard to play horde, because their story is much better than alliance so far. if only Draenei had joined horde, i may not avoid it so much. Varian is a terrible leader to follow, and alliance doesn't really have many options for leaders. what are the biggest leaders active on alli? varian and malfurion? magni is jewelry, gnomes are still hovering around gnomeregan. tyrande mostly stays in temple, velen and greymane get no attention at all.
Garrosh may be brash and hot headed, but the horde has several leaders it can turn to.
and even if you hate him, at least its not another fragile peace broken up and then glued back together to fight some common enemy, like all the events under thrall's rule. the horde and alliance don't need each other to beat deathwing, so why even write it as such?

Oh, believe me, we would need to start a whole new thread about Sylvie. ;-)
