I have been a resto druid since BC and while I desperately miss running around in my tree form I do acknowledge the need for the changes. Every major revamp rotates a new set of classes into the "preferred" spotlight and that's ok because it keeps the game fresh and lets players have their favorite classes time in the sun.
I think this kind of change is great; it really separates the people who play the class for the love vs the people who play because its easy, a better understanding of the class in question will make for better players.
