Since nobody has mentioned my playstyle yet, I just thought I'd post about it in case anyone might find it enjoyable.

For 5-man and 2-healing 10-mans, where you know you're both tank-healing and also keeping up the party, I use a setup like this: Default UI, auto-self-cast, set the tank as my focus, and lots of combo mouseover/click macros like these
/cast [harm,nodead][@focustarget,harm,nodead][]Smite
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@focus,help,nodead][] GHeal

The compound modifiers let you click-to-target for heals and damage if you want, mouseover the raid frame for heals if you want, and do something mostly intelligent if you have neither target nor mouseover target. I use a combination of techniques depending upon what feels right at the moment.
