The Daily Quest: Just a little shy

World of Warcraft is one of those games that sort of hinges on how well you get along with other people. Whether it's other people in the form of a guild, others you're working with in battlegrounds, or others you're making transactions with through trade chat, it is very hard to play the game without eventually coming to a point at which it's necessary to talk to other people.
So what do you do when you're really, really shy and not comfortable with chatting with others? Today, we've got a couple posts involving just that scenario and another piece that offers some interesting food for thought.
- Heavy Wool Bandage discusses social anxiety and group effort as a healer in WoW.
- The Bossy Pally has a how-to guide with some helpful tips on keeping shyness from ruining your game.
- Orcish Army Knife talks about class-specific role models in WoW -- specifically, the lack of priests.

I get where he's coming from, but as a paladin, I sort of feel like we're flying solo these days. No, really. Most of the paragons of paladin . . . ness, are dead. Arthas . . . well, we all know how that turned out.
No, all we have left is Tirion, and his show-stealing has left me rather cold on him. Plus, all he does now is hang out in Western Plaguelands. Not that picking up the pieces left behind by the end of the Scourge and the Scarlet Crusade isn't a noble pursuit, but it's not like the world is sitting idly by while he finishes taking care of his personal goals.

You know, there are some priest role models, but dang if there are NO shadow priest role models other than Mr. Van Allen.
Give us some baddass (yes, I am aware there are two ds) shadowy (manic) street preachers. Lets see a Cult of the Forgotten Shadow faction. I want me some dark twisty rep, I got more than enough of that goody goody paladin rep.
Lets see a Dark Cleric Lillian Voss vanquishing foes in battle for great honor and glory. You don't have to be sweet as pie to be a hero.

Working in a group has been my biggest fear as I've started to play WoW:
-I go into cold sweats when I get a /whisper from someone I have never met before.
-Dungeons are terrifying places where I can embarrass myself in from of others.
-Guild chat is something I muse about longingly as I have something to say, but not the balls to say it.
Finding out that I'm not the only one with these issues, and reading about ways to overcome my fears is tremendously reassuring. Thanks for the article, I really enjoyed it.

I'm a very shy person. My internet persona is completely different than I am in real life - just having a blog and advertising it is something I would never do normally. This is me trying to break out of the mould. :)
Latest post on Corath's Blog (http://corath.wordpress.com) is all about burnout and what to do next after completing objectives. All I can say is that I can't wait for 4.1!
