I personally didn't experience a hack.
My friend who was in the States at the time helped me get the authenticator (before it was more freely available through the local dealers here)
However I did see my guild leader get hacked.
And I'm not being metaphorical either. I was online with a RL friend online when we suddenly see our GL come online outside of his regular hours. He promptly kicked out my friend and all other guildies from the guild (I'm not in the guild per se but I treat them as my guild)
Then we proceeded to watch him run back and forth between the bank and the AH for the next couple of hours.
In the meantime, my friend sent an overseas message to the GL who, according to what he told us, became stone sober in an instant and rushed to send a message to Blizzard to get his access back.
While all this was happening, a second RL friend was busy buying the deeply discounted mats for himself to roll profit on.
Yeah. Don't do drugs and don't be stingy on springing for an authenticator (at least get the iPhone or Android ones... those are free
